Dem Rep. Craig: Shutting Down Government Over ICE Should ‘Be on the Table’

On Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Laura Coates Live,” Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN) responded to a question on whether she would shut the government down over limiting ICE power by saying that “all options have to be on the table,” and they’ll look to party leadership “just like we did when we made sure that the American people knew that the affordability crisis is on — especially related to healthcare — is on the backs of this Republican Party.”

Woman arrested during Memphis anti-ICE protest, accused of assaulting officers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Cordova woman was arrested during anti-ICE protests on Summer Avenue this weekend after a law enforcement officer said she assaulted and verbally attacked them, and resisted detention.

Rebecca Leathers, 55, is charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, indecent exposure, vandalism, assault, assault on a peace officer and obstructing a highway.

Leathers was arrested Sunday afternoon, as protesters walked on Summer Avenue near Graham Street. Officers from several agencies blocked part of the street. Authorities estimated 100 protesters were involved, though witnesses say there were many more.

According to a statement from a state trooper, Leathers banged on the trooper’s windshield and window, screaming at him and attempting to enter the passenger-side door as protesters surrounded the vehicle.

He says he got out of his vehicle to detain her. The trooper claims Leathers was aggressive and he smelled an odor of alcohol on her breath.

She allegedly fought against her detention and threatened law enforcement and federal agents. Once she was taken to the THP Memphis headquarters, the trooper wrote that Leathers attacked the sexuality and race of of troopers at the station, including using the n-word.

The trooper said Leathers pulled down her pants, exposing herself, and attempted to urinate on the floor. As troopers tried to escort her to the bathroom, they say she began damaging and destroying property.

Trump Announces Sanctuary Cities And States will Lose Federal Funds On Feb. 1

Published Jan. 13, 2026

WASHINGTON — President Trump said Tuesday that he’s preparing to halt federal funding to sanctuary cities and states on Feb. 1 — potentially yanking billions in revenue in response to laws barring cooperation with immigration agents.

“Starting February 1, we’re not making any payments to sanctuary cities or states having sanctuary cities because they do everything possible to protect criminals at the expense of American citizens,” Trump said during a speech in Detroit.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested an Afghan immigrant who attempted to murder his sister nearly a decade ago for being a “bad Muslim girl.”

On January 1, ICE agents in Rochester, New York, arrested 39-year-old Waheed Allah Mohammad, who legally immigrated to the United States from Afghanistan in May 2004.

According to his conviction for attempted murder, in 2008, Mohammad tried to murder his then 19-year-old sister, whom he considered a “bad Muslim girl” for dressing immodestly and going to nightclubs, by repeatedly stabbing her.
