Just heard Jimmy Hyams today on the drive home and a caller asked him who would be the top 5 candidates if Fulmer is fired. I swear, most of these guys in Knoxville must get their talking points from the same spin machine.
He said the samething that 90% of the other media guys in this town say anytime they are confronted with this question...
"I do not feel it is appropriate to speculate about a possible opening with the Tennessee football coach's position because Tennessee currently has Phillip Fulmer in place. I do not feel that it is respectful and I am not inclined to speak on this subject until such decision is made... blah blah blah"
What is the harm in just throwing out a few names just for the sake of argument? Not that I think that Hyams would have any inside scoop or info about a possible hire, but just the principle about the whole thing. Last week, I heard the guys in Nashville (104.5) talking up a storm about it... and I'm sure the talk is the same in Chattanooga and elsewhere across the state. But for whatever reason, these guys want to hold off on the discussion.
