These are the most ridiculous posts ever. Yes the OL coach is going to decide if DD is the coach in 2013... Ha!

Yeah Sam Pittman could be the end of Dooley, how about Dooley could be end of Dooley.

Nice post of the states, but hate to break it to you we were way worse the last two years.

We could have hired the monkey cowboy riding a dog that does halftime shows and that would have been a statistical improvement

True. ....gotta start somewhere.

Dooley's clock is running. ...but he'll be here until we can do better than him.

Who would the op hired as o-line coach? CDD is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. I hope he gets the job done just to watch a lot of people eat crow.

Dirty Harry did not get a singal recruit to come to UT in 2 years. That is according to Rivals. In two years he recruited 0 people that came to UT.

In that same time, Slick Sam signed 6 4Star and 4 3star player to north Carolina.

We need players to compete in the SEC!!!

Just going to remind the OP that 116 (us) is worse than 76 (them); that UNC played under an interim HC that was a DC last season; that the AA cloud was over the program for 2-3 years; that 9 players were suspended from the team a couple of years ago; that UNC was a bottom feeder under the previous HC Bunting; etc.

I will go on to say if we are 76th in rushing this season we will be competing for East Division champs because Bray and the WRs will be having fun times if there is a dependable running game. Providing we end up with CLT or better as a DC that is.

He had a freshman running back rush for over 1200 yards, average 5.2 yards a carry, and not to mention he was named a top 25 recruiter by more than one site.

We barely made it over 1000 yards rushing this year as a team. It seems like an upgrade to me, JMO.

I don't mean to be negative. But, is this the best OL coach UT can get? If so, it may not matter who the next ST, DC, and other D position coach will be.

North Carolina's Rushing Offense Rankings under Pittman

2007 107th
2008 89th
2009 79th
2010 94th
2011 76th

Of course, that is in the ACC, not SEC. I am not impressed at all. I hope I am wrong. But, I don't see this as a good hire. Maybe they threw the ball a lot and the average per attempt was good. I hope so for Dooley and the UT Fans sake!!! I am tired of watching the Vols be in the SEC cellar!!!

Still better than ours.

Named one of the nation's top 25 recruiters by ESPN.com, Pittman has signed the nation's No. 2 rated tackle in each of the last two years - Hurst in 2010 and Kiaro Holt in 2011. He also was instrumental in signing several players in the Tar Heels' recruiting class in 2011, which was ranked as high as 15th nationally.

In 2008, Pittman helped develop offensive tackle Garrett Reynolds into a second-team all-conference selection. Reynolds consistently graded out as the team's top performer over his last two seasons, was named to the 2008 Lombardi Award watch list and was taken in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. Reynolds was a key component in a line that helped Carolina produce its best running attack in four years, averaging 122.6 yards and rushing for 18 touchdowns.

Pittman came to Carolina after serving four seasons as Northern Illinois' offensive line coach (2003-06) and three years as its assistant head coach (2004-06). In 2006, the Huskies' offensive line paved the way for the nation's leading rusher, Garrett Wolfe, to run for more than 1,900 yards.

In four years at NIU, Pittman produced nine All-Mid-American Conference linemen, including seven first-team selections. NIU had a tailback top the 1,500-yard rushing mark all four years.

Pittman began his second term at Northern Illinois in 2003. That year, NIU finished 10-2 and beat Maryland and Iowa State and knocked off Alabama, 19-16, in Tuscaloosa. Pittman's line blocked for Michael Turner who finished second in the nation in rushing.

Pittman first coached at Northern Illinois from 1994-95 and produced a trio of All-Big West Conference talent, including All-America center Chris O'Neal. Pittman was the offensive line coach at Oklahoma from 1996-98 where he coached first-round draft pick Stockar McDougle. Pittman has also worked with the offensive lines at Cincinnati (1996), Western Michigan (1999), Missouri (2000) and Kansas (2001).

looks like improvement to me...i will take him. Any of these negavols wanna throw their tickets away feel free to pm me...ill take em!!!

Pittman will prove to be a good hire for Dooley. An ESPN top 25 recruiter, per the article up top he has recruited the top OL the last couple of seasons. That will certainly be an advantage of HH coming from the NFL. Pittman gives us a big lift in recruiting over HH. But that is my grievance with HH. I thought '12 is when we would see the OL blossom as spring and fall ptactices will undoubtedly put heavy emphasis on run blocking. And I think our RVs will be better even of we don't get anohter RB in this class.

Compare the stats to Harry...not the last five years

Harry is not the issue . This has been went over and over by an ex vol o-lineman that posts on this board and by several people on this board with schematic smarts.

The sprint draw system of running they schemed around will not work in the SEC ...period. It did not work well against Montana when everybody was healthy . The hole has to be open way to long for the skill level of SEC linebackers.

No body else in the SEC runs this scheme and for a reason. The O-line pass blocked really well ...which is the mark of good coaching .

The need a downhill style of running , with the backs set at the proper depth ( not the idiotic long drop they want to use ) , that is predicated on power and not delay . Their current scheme allows the LB to make an easy read due to the drop delay style ...and he can attack untouched through the very hole they want to run through.

Hopefully they will get to a competative scheme this season....and the Oline coach can be appreciated
