Salter charged with misdemeanor

At this point, I’d have a hard time believing the family would be alarmed at his actions. Salter has most likely been told he can do just about anything he wants with no ramifications.
I don’t believe that about them.

Never meet a pothead that contributed anything worthy. Just makes you lazy & dumb & there is no denying it
Sorry sir but this statement is ignorant! I'm not a smoker myself but know many people that are potheads and are far from lazy or dumb. This is 2021 not 1955.

This is a very interesting thread, got alittle weed talk going on everybody having a good time, then you get these morons wanting to make it about race, I honestly don't care what race you are if you do stupid **** then you're a dumbass.
Usually the ones who make it about race can't create a valid argument so they go to that, even tho we know that has nothing to do with it.

Those who are generous with the mercy they sow, reap extravagant mercy. Those who are stingy with it, don't get as much in return.
Let's don't be so swift to pass judgment. I'm in favor of sweeping this one under the rug. There is plenty more worthy news about the team that deserves the buzz than one player's misdemeanor charge. Hope to see him put this behind him quickly and continued good health for his family that had the battle earlier. Go Vols!

And that makes him a “thug”? Lol. I’m sure it’d be a different tune if Bailey was arrested for 4 g’s of weed.
Well, yeah, it would. I'm not a big pro-Bailey guy but he's never been in trouble. Salter has been in trouble twice in 3 months for not much more than being stupid and too immature to live up to the fairly low expectations of a college football player.

I HOPE you weren't making an ignorant racist comment when you posted that.

FWIW, it was Salter who posted on social media about wanting people to come "thug" with him just after the last incident. This kind of self-centered, me first jackassery is NOT what you need when trying to build any kind of team.

In case it hasn't been mentioned before... Salter should be gone for "leading" teammates into trouble if nothing else. It isn't just that he's getting in trouble himself... but he's helping drag others down too.

Ah the reefer debate. A Volnation classic if there ever was one. But it's irrelevant here. The problem is that Salter got busted again, in less than 3 months, and just after getting reinstated. He basically spit his 2nd chance back in everyone's face. You can't keep him now, or attempts at discipline will never have credibility again.

One aspect of this is how Coach JH may have felt that Salter really hung him out to dry for this most recent screw-up after giving a second chance (and perhaps third or more behind the scenes). I cannot imagine any coach here (or maybe elsewhere) ever trusting this kid again. It also makes one wonder if this misguided young man is in real jeopardy as far as this being a crossroads in his life that could easily have a very ugly end. If one is entitled, a downfall is often much more harsh.
You almost get the feeling it would be somewhat unlikely that he turns things around and even finishes college.....anywhere - forget playing ball. I truly hope not. I hope he can learn something that gives him a chance, somewhere.

People high on weed end up in ED all the time and fight people as well

Only if it's laced with something else or they did something dumb while high. It's very unlikely the average person will have a reaction to weed that requires a visit to the ER.

I did once or twice in high school. Rather pointless. And it’s not a false narrative, I spent 20 years as a police officer then I worked as an addiction specialist and now I have worked 15 years as an executive at Level 1 trauma center hospital so yea, sorry it’s not your normal bong hit Saturday but I know what I am talking about

Most of family works in the medical field and completely disagree with this entire narrative.

I could care less about the weed....it is what is. I care even less about whether or not it should be legal...it also is what it is.

What I care about is a kid, probably one that needs some tough love, that has apparent difficulty making the type of decisions that someone who wants to be a starting QB at a major University should be making. I'm no Puritan...I'm a realist, and experienced with college athletes. Guys that have a nose for trouble will find it, whether it's weed or something else. Some are dumb, some are just unlucky. But problems with guys like that will continue.

I don't know what Heupel will do, but I know what I'd do.

Purely a coincidence, but today was my day for a yearly exam. Couldn’t help but tell the doc about this amusing debate from today. I left out the parts where LSD was a contributor to several scientific breakthroughs, and how one of us listed Bob Dylan as a scientist. But anyway, she says that marijuana is as much of a health risk as anything else. She also said, and I quote, that saying it is safer than alcohol is the equivalent of saying the gas chamber is safer than the guillotine. Didn’t seem to be a huge fan of either, which is why I didn’t bring up the LSD argument. But this came from an actual medical doctor. Perhaps not as qualified to speak on the matter as some here though, so take it with a grain of salt.
