An ELITE recruiter but unproven DC. Not exactly what I was hoping for but he could turn out to be a great hire.

At first I was :realmad: after hearing his name not gonna lie, but now I'm  after doing some research on him.

I would not be disappointed with this hire.

After that game last night, I think Sal is the leader as our this morning. However, it will probably be someone different tomorrow

If Sunseri is hired it just shows how rock bottom this program continues to be. Anyone who doesn't think Dooley will be gone in a year is delusional. This program is a dumpster fire right now, and people who aren't fans of it realize as much. And that hurts to say, as I am actually am a fan, just haven't lost logic.

Dooley walked into an impossible situation with the unreasonable expectations of this fanbase, but seriously....we could throw $4M a year at Chris Peterson and he'd probably just turn us down. Just reality.

What is the fascination with Saban assistants? He is the best recruiter ever. He has the most talent top to bottom anyone has probably ever had. But his xs and os are blantantly conservative. He is not a football strategy genius. Go pick up a copy of "Coaching football for dummies" if you want to know all of Saban's tricks. He is an unstoppable recruiter and brilliant motivator and disciplinarian. That doesnt mean everyone on his staff is the next him.

You do understand we are talking about the defensive side of the ball? I see nothing about his defense that is conservative. Explain what you see.

I just hope we finish strong with another solid recruiting class so that the next coach can inherit some talent and take us back to where we belong. If and when Dooley is let go, he will definitely have left the program better than when he found it.

as DC. He recruits VA, MD, PA, OH, NJ areas where Sirmon worked and where we need to focus. Granted, he would not play as much in recruiting as a DC but he would have pretty good standing with HS coaches in these areas.

The other potential is that he may could bring Billy Napier. Being on the Bama staff, he knows they are hiding Napier until they have an Asst Coach opening on the offense to move him up to a full-time assistant. Kinda like we did with Sirmon. Napier may be influenced to come with Sunseri to Knoxville as the TE/ST coach.

Better move quick - Napier is rumored to be headed to Colorado State with Jim McElwain (from FootballScoop)

Colorado State: Sources tell us that Alabama offensive quality control Billy Napier will go with Jim McElwain to CSU as quarterbacks coach.

Sunseri spent 10 years in the NFL coaching NFL. Julius Peppers credits him with his success. Everyone here is a "CHIEF" fanatic. Sure he coached at Little Alabama A&M but had been a linebacker coach on Larry Marmie staff when he was promoted. I'll take this guy any day of the week. He's been apart of A LOT of winning football and some great defensive coaches, Foge Fazio at Pitt, John Fox at Carolina, Saban at Alabama, give him a shot, better than some "RE-TREAD".

Saban was so far over his head when he was in Miami that his ego couldn't handle it. So he lied for weeks to the Dolphins and their owner that he would never return to college football or that he wouldn't be the next coach at Bama, and that he loved Miami and coaching in the NFL. As soon as the season was over he ran to be the next coach at Bama leaving Miami with an overall record of 15-17.

Some say he left Miami to make more money at Bama, but before he left Miami the Dolphins owner offered to match the pay at Miami that Bama was offering. But, Saban left Miami anyway as his ability to coach had been exposed by the NFL.

Good perspective. I didn't know the Phins had offered him the same pay... I thought they were pretty much ready to move on. He's among the best college coaches of all time, but not really the right approach for the NFL.
