We don't know what goes on behind closed doors, but it's pretty likely some of his assistants do not have Butch's back.

The guy has been really strung tight since the season began, being on the defensive against the TN sports media and Vol fans alike. His PR complaints against the fans was probably his biggest blunder. If you make asides against the fanbase, it probably doesn't end well.

Would most of you agree that Tennessee is far from Butch's favorite place anymore. Not by a long shot. But here's what is really sad. Hart has him contracted thru 2020 and his agent isn't going to advise him to leave with that buyout money on the table. Butch is searching for some more cliches to navigate through these troubled waters expecting things to calm shortly as bowl prep begins.

So we have a HC that no longer wants to be here and a fanbase who would just as soon see him leave tomorrow. On top of that we have a lameduck AD and an administration that hasn't been capable of doing much right over a number of years, so now they're dragging their heels on naming a new AD.

I have no idea where we go from here, but UT athletics has been a real catastrophe for years now.

If there is some future coaching search started, I hope it includes a committee of athletes who played for Tennessee and genuinely care about getting things right. If guys like Majors, Fulmer, Al Wilson, and Peyton could put their collective minds together, I would trust them a whole lot more than people throwing out random names like Gruden or Les Miles. Gruden makes twice more than any college could pay him for 20 hours work a week. And Les Miles was dismissed from a school that has one of the most fertile recruiting base in the country. He has zero in common with our area and would just be a general misfit, imo.

But it was the year that was, with an inauspicious beginning against App St and culminating in another loss to Vanderbilt. It had some thrills for sure, highlighted by the hail Mary of all time against Ga and the win against Fla, but the losses to USC and Vandy were devastating. Genuine and realistic opportunities like SEC East champ and an invitation to the Sugar Bowl were just tossed into the wind. Maybe next year? I don't think so. Recent history has taught me not to set my hopes too high.

Next season, we play Indiana State, UMass, Georgia Tech, LSU, Alabama, Ky. Missouri, Vandy , USC, Florida,UGA & another non conference opponent.
With some coaching changes, some players leaving for the NFL or to graduation, I see us going 9 -3 with a solid team or 8 - 4 with game in which we totally self destruct from the coaching and play calling.
So, we will average 8 or 9 regular season wins per season. Compare that to Dooley's performance and we are definitely improved and back to the Johnny Major years.

Butch has said he doesn't pay attention to social media.

Peyton was a huge fan of butch jones if I remember correctly.

I think he tried to get Colorado to hire him.

I see no way we stop the Tech option attack. So losses to Tech, Alabama, @Florida, Georgia will be better. LSU, @Kentucky, @ Missouri. Next year could get ugly.

I disagree. I see 6 losses from that schedule. What makes you even think we beat Vandy next year? They have won 2 of the last 4 meetings with us. Of course, only time will tell the real story. But several of our rivals are trending up, while we are trending down. We finished 4-4 in sec play, the same as Kentucky and only 1 game better off than Vandy in sec play.

I see 4 losses at best and 6 to 7 at worst. We lose too much of our offensive production, I say we lose 5.
