Alabama head coach Nick Slimeball called linebacker Courtney Upshaw a "great person" and indicated that no suspension will be forthcoming for the expected starter at middle linebacker. According to a sworn statement by UA police Sgt. Rusty Romine, Upshaw chased Kendall Grzyb (Upshaw's on again off again female lover), grabbed her by the neck and attempted to shove her to the ground. Upshaw, of course; had a different account--and was backed up by the girl's father, who threw her under the bus by opining it was Kendall's fault. Obviously the elder Gyzub is a big bama fan, to offer such info in total contrast to the eyewitness Police report.

My question is what does it take to warrant a suspension at Ala., and would Kiffin handle this case differently?

Saban said he was as fine a young man as they have in the program.

Weren't the charges dropped?

How do you suspend a kid when the charges are dropped and the alleged victims father comes to his defense.

It's funny that the victim's father came to his defense and not the victim. Especially after it says that Gyzub is a huge Bama fan.. I guess they cherish football more than their own in Alabama.

....

Right, because every parent knows that love of a college football program outweighs the love you have for your child.

You guys are ridiculous. The charges were dropped, and the father came to Upshaw's defense.

That's about the only thing they have going for them.

BWAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA I read this and spit water all over my monitor...

Other legal defenses in Alabama,

10) she hit me first
9) she said she'd stop being my sister
8) she cheated on me with our brother
7) she said Auburn was better
6) she took my false tooth
5) she drank from my bud
4) She bought light beer
3) She made me miss dance your ass off
2) She cheered with Tennesee scored
1) it was pure reaction, I sobered up, saw her and hit her to put her out of her misery.

Every guy on earth has gone psycho over at least one chick in their lifetime. If they tell you otherwise...they are lying. Charges dropped...no big deal.

as long as the father defends him then there is no case.

however, in most normal states, if a police officer testified AGAINST the player in question, usually the law would favor that officer.

whats the victim have to say about all of this? or did the father threaten to choke slam her too if she didnt keep her mouth shut?

FAIK---case is still under investigation---charges not dropped (should have been assault---IMO).

KID?----250 lb linebacker vs 110 lb co-ed ---------
sounds like a fair fight to me------:):):):)

Oh I am quite sure the charges will be dropped soon as the Sgt. is told to "Stand down". What really gets me is Saban had nothing but praise for the guy---Talk about a coach that wants to win at all cost.
Glad bammers got him----match made in heaven.

To answer the OP's question...

Given the circumstances, yes, I believe Kiffin would suspend an Alabama player.

Actually, domestic violence laws are pretty strict. It wouldnt matter whether or not the father came to the defense or not, the state would still way the evidence against the aggressor. The state has the right to prosecute a domestic case, regardless of whether the victim wishes to prosecute or not. Most times they won't, but I have seen it done, especially if the prosecutor thinks the victim has been coerced into dropping the charges.
