Saban at Alabama

I'm not taking up for today's performance and to say it was bad is an understatement...

When Saban took over at Alabama, he had at least twice as much talent and much closer to a full roster. Even with that Nick "The Wizard" Saban barely got to 7-6 (technically 2-11 with the vacated wins).

I couldn't even see Saban (or Meyer for that matter) getting THIS roster to a winning record. IMHO anybody that thinks so is delusional at best...

Oh well, I'll take a "W" anyway possible this year. V,B.

Yeah, I've just been wondering all day if ANYBODY could have done better, and he is the obvious comparison.

My lord.

I'm not even going to both posting the stats... but look up the margin of defeat in Bama's losses and also look at the 6 wins.

They were competitive in every loss which is something that can only be said about UT if you're limiting the games to 30 minutes.

Peyton Manning couldn't come back as QB and lead this team to a bowl. Just accept it and look forward to next year.

Thanks for this awesome thread. Go ahead and top it off with the "Saban lost to La. Monroe his first year; therefore, Dooley will follow the exact same path to greatness."

but it was still saban who the OP alluded to. i'm not bashing the post or thread or anything, just pointing out that saban and alabama seem to be who alot of fans on here compare dooley or the team as a whole to.

In a sense of Saban being the best or one of the best coaches and would not have done as good with this TN team as he did with the Bama team during his first season. It had nothing to do with comparing Dooley to Saban.

I don't think anybody is saying that, genius. I think what most of us are saying is that a 3-point OT victory doesn't necessarily mean the sky has completely fallen. I still think there is a chance this team wins 6-7 games (which is what I thought before the season started). Do I guarantee it--no way. But, it is possible.

no, i understand. point taken. i must be used to the dooley comparison a little too much since so many have used it on here. regardless, though, alot of fans do like to use it just because he's from saban's tree, and it shouldn't necessarily be like that.

No, actually that's just the opposite of what the OP is saying. He is saying we are so bad that basically Jesus Christ couldn't win games for us this year. So, nice try at the interpretation. As for accusing me of being a "nega-vol", see my thread on positives from this game.

Did we win or not!!!

A win is a win, ugly or not. Hells bells, we could have lost.

Some of you guys need to get off your mommas teet.

Just because we looked bad against UAB doesnt mean we will be blown out ever game.

When we were great and had 3 times the talent, depth, and experience, we still lost games.

Are some of you just brain dead or refuse to grasp reality?

Winning relies on executing the plays. That ultimately lies on the shoulders of the players. If they do not play hard and to their potential, then a win wont likely occur.

A coach can not play for them, much like a teacher can not do the homework for a student. If the are not willing to put in the effort to improve themselves, learn the game, and do what they have been taught, then they will fail.

Laying the blame on coaching for lack of execution is completely idiotic.

Next time you forget to tie your shoes and trip and fall from stepping on the laces, blame the shoe company for not tying them for you. Makes just as much sense
