S.I.'s All Americans smells.One Vol, 3rd team

Tyler should be higher than 3rd team in my opinion, but all in all that's a pretty good list.

Given Lofton's season, unfortunately I don't think he belongs here. What other Vols besides Tyler would you add?

How can a # 18 Indiana have 2 second team All Americans and # 4 ranked Tennessee have 1 third team All American? Horrible!

It is sad we don't have more guys on that list, but I think it's because we are a true basketball TEAM. In the past, Lofton would have been on the list because he was forced to carry us every game. Now, we have several guys who can step up to lead us to victory. This team doesn't care about personal accolades (I know that doesn't stop us from caring though, haha). They only care about one thing: winning a championship. If we can finish off this dream season with a title...that would be worth more than any player-specific award. Making the Final 4 and possibly winning a title or SI.com's All American Team? I think the choice is obvious.

GO VOLS!!!:rock:07-08 Regular Season SEC CHAMPS!

Agreed completely. This team also exudes Pearl's coaching philosophy - a bunch of scrappy players who all play with something to prove.

I like our chances in March and on into April. Let's see how far these guys can go.

If utfantilidie would pay attention, he'd realize that the reason we don't have many players on the AA list is because we play 9-10 guys a game, so our best players average less minutes than the other top guys, thus, less time to rack up stats. Combine that with the offensive weapons we have, and the stats are spread out amongst a lot of guys.

Augustin - 37.2 mpg
CDR - 27.9 mpg
Hansbrough - 32.7 mpg
Beasley - 31.4
Love - 28.9 mpg

Gordon - 34.2 mpg
Curry - 32.4 mpg
Bayless - 36.0 mpg
White - 32.9 mpg
Harangody - 28.7 mpg

Price - 33.0 mpg
Foster - 33.5 mpg
Thompson - 34.4 mpg
Lopez - 30.1 mpg

Tyler - 28.1 mpg
Jajuan - 26.8 mpg
Lofton - 29.4 mpg

The answer to this is quite simple: Tennessee has a better TEAM than any of those schools, especially Indiana. Tennessee has a different guy step up night after night and we play as a TEAM, not as a bunch of individuals like Indiana.

Case in point: after Sampson was fired, only HALF the team showed up for practice. I'll take a Tennessee team with no all-americans over an Indiana team with 5!

GO VOLS!!

White... No. Not at all. Tyler Smith is better than anyone on the Indiana roster save Eric Gordon.
I agree. Since Tyler was on the list I was refering to the rest of the team. I should have been more specific. Outside of Tyler Smith, Gordon and White are better than anyone on UT's roster.

I'm not going to look it up but considering the style we play our guys don't need as many minutes to fill up the stat sheet.

In my opinion DJ White is incredibly overrated.

I love Tyler Smith, but DJ White is slightly better right now. The kid has something like 20 double doubles while averaging a double double. When T. Smith is a senior he'll be better.

Plus he's pretty much the only senior leader on an IU team that lost its coach. I'd take DJ right now. We'll agree to disagree.

Yeah, DJ White's a great leader. Boycotting your new coach's first practice just screams "leadership."

Hard to get individual recognition when you have so many good players that are unselfish, and play together like a real team. I get what you're saying, you just want our players to get some credit, but winning a NC will take away any anger over getting snubbed for All American.

y'know it's not a bad thing....i just shows CBP has taught these kids to be a real team....there r maybe 3 guys on this team that are talented enough to be there but, team philosophy is share the basketball....so let's celebrate that, and let the media say whay want.....we have a better TEAM!!!!
