Why are we recruiting this guy and why are we recruiting so many defensive ends? If you know anything about Shoops system , you would know why . Some of these guys will not be defensive ends at all. This is a two gap system predicated on speed and attacking the gaps aggressively. Some of these defensive ends are huge for DEs coming out of high school. They will add 20-30 lbs at the training table and in the weight room and they will become defensive tackles that are big fast and very lean.

Some of the smaller DE may become LBs . Because in this system , the LBs have more gap responsibility than the down linemen.

So when you look at the 6'4 250 lb defensive ends...they will be 290 lb DTs eventually and they will be backed by 240 lb linebackers and everyone will be able to run

This is the scheme , if I you or we agree with it ...it is our scheme. You can act like a bunch of Democrats and loot and riot and protest , or you can accept it and hope it works

Haven't read whole thread, but CBJ was able to get a lot of legacy players early, seems now, not able to close on them or not offer. The shine has dimmed on his recruiting ability and Vols outlook. My personal view of Vols future is not bright. Current coaching changes have not changed my mind, only strengthened it. Not a full Neggavol but a wait and see Vol. Butch have yet to prove to me he is a top coach.

Ok he may be filling holes with bodies, but come game day that won't matter. When our quality players get tired or hurt and are replaced by these 3*s the other team will shut our O down and score at will on our D just like this past season. Depth means NOTHING if its not quality depth and CBJ isn't getting us quality depth.

i'd rather have a class of only 15-20 quality kids than 27 with 22 of those being 3*'s we're taking just to fill a hole and they will provide a noticeable drop in quality when they hit the field.

The Dooley approach. Can't sign any top O linemen then don't sign any, glad that didn't come back to bite us.

I will again remind you nega-nincompoops that that the huge majority of players in the NFL came out of high school as lowly 3* players entering college.

That's like saying only 1st and 2nd round picks in the NFL will ever become good players, LMAO!
