Saw this over at Rivals....

In new coach Butch Jones' opening press conference last Friday, he cited having an open door policy for all letter-winners. On Monday night, he extended that open door to Ryan Jenkins, son of former Vol Lee Jenkins, and offered the 5'-10", 180-pound slot receiver a scholarship.

The Marietta, Ga., athlete spoke to coach Jones Monday night after not hearing form the Vols for some time.

50 foot 10??? Just throw it up and let him go get it. Unstoppable imo.;)

I believe we did offer, yes.

Pretty sure Wes Welker is shorter than 5'10. Not comparing Jenkins to Welker but I don't think a slot receiver needs to be huge. You need great hands & no fear to go across the middle

His vertical is good, but is 40 not so much. Like said though, it is more about having good hands, knowing how to run a route which includes knowing how to adjust to coverage as Eric Ainge was talking about today.

He will probably stay committed to Clemson due to his brother, Martin Jenkins who plays CB there. I played with his brother for 2 years in high school, and they would like to play on the same team.

Just like flying Tee out here I think this was as much to do about good PR as anything.

FWIW Ryan is rated much higher then Paul Harris on ESPN and 247. I hope we can flip him I think we have a decent chance.

Man if Dooley had just offered this kid early on in the process he probably would have committed on the spot. He told Josh Ward that his dad has a picture of him in the UT locker room and he is wearing Jamal Lewis' pads. This should have been a no brainer but will end up probably being one we miss out on thanx to mister Dooley.
