Rushing yds. 2016

On RTI podcast the other day they ask the question; buy or sell, does UT rush for more yds. this yr. compared to last. Both said "sell," because UT will be passing more this yr. On the other hand better passing can lead to extended drives, therefore more rushing yds. Also with our O line a yr. older, as well as Kamara, we could be better suited for some big stats. Not to mention we left some yds. on the field last yr. as we seemed to fall asleep in the second half, and should of played better against some really bad teams. (N. Tx) And another possibility is teams will kick the ball away from Cam, Kamara, and Berry; therefore, more offense, and less return yards.

Rushing:
Hurd 1,700+yds
Kamara 1,200+yds
Dobbs 1,000+ yds
Kelly 400+yds

Dobbs 3,700+yds passing

Hurd 300+yds receiving
Kamara 500+yds receiving


Haha, with those numbers it may be the most productive offense to ever exist. Well, I guess there's no harm in dreaming big.

While I'm at it, Tennessee 63 - Florida 3.

Does anyone happen to know what recent coll qb's, in 2 consecutive years, improved from (%-wise, something like) a 2300 total yards passing to a 3700 tot yards passing season? Oops, this is a rushing thread. sorry, forget the question.

Rushing will increase along with passing. Heck we'll probably increase in other areas like fumbling forward etc too. Gonna be a special season.

The QB at Arkansas made a similar leap last year. Don't know the exact numbers but he went from marginal starter to putting up some of the most prolific passing numbers ever.

I'm selling on it too. A lot of Dobbs rushes were a result of the pocket collapsing. I think our O-line holds up better this year. Will that result in better passing #s for Dobbs? Hopefully

In 15 games we'll rush for over 4,000 yards and pass for 3,500.

Dobbs - 3500 passing, 1000 rushing, 45 total TDs

Hurd - 1800 rushing, 300 receiving, 20 total TDs

Kamara - 1200 rushing, 500 receiving, 15 total TDs

If you're going to be pessimistic, stop calling yourself a fan and don't go to the games. Fan means fanatical You don't understand how seriously talented our offensive unicorns are.

Dobbs: 5000 yards passing, 2000 rushing, 100 total TDs

Hurd: 2700 rushing, 700 receiving, 40 TDs

Kamara: 2000 rushing, 1000 receiving, 30 TDs

That's what I said too. I'm not saying it's not possible but those are huge numbers. With just those 3 players combined that D4H mentioned he has them with 80 total TD's. Those 3 alone would mean 5+ TD's per game between them.

Add TD's by others players & we could see darn near 100 TD's. 100 TD's would mean 6.67 TD's per game at 15 games played. 42+ points/game would be fine with me though. That's certainly not impossible with this offense but I think it's shooting for dream numbers if you ask me.

Let me just say this if we put up those type of stats offensively there's no way we lose with the defense we will be putting on the field. Teams will be lucky to score 10-14 points/game against this defense with Shoop at the controls.

Generally speaking, a (highly optimistic) average game is about 400-450 yards. Over 15 games, this will be about 6500 yards. This is a great offense and I hope that this occurs. Rushing is our offensive strength, with passing as our known challenge. We should be strong on defense and have excellent special teams, so we should have leads or be close. With this, we should be very balance, 2800-3200 rushing, 3000-3400 passing over 15 game season.

We're going to RUN all over the place. But we will pass the ball much better this year also. This offense has a chance to be really really good. As well as the defense. It's time, this is OUR YEAR to SHINE!!!!

I think the passing yards will open up the rushing lanes.

I'll go with 50 more yards per game passing and 25 yards more per game rushing.

One key is whether or not we need to keep the TEs to pass block a lot. If we can release them, then we have a 1) Hurd, 2) Kamara, 3) Dobbs rush, 4) WR pass and 5) TE pass plus 6) RB pass.

All this adds up to 7 points unless you want to John Ward it "Give him six!"

Tackle-eligible Richmond/Hall anyone?

Not really. Some of Kamara and Hurd's TD will be receiving TDs that are also credited as passing TDs to Dobbs.

I'd break down their TDs like this:

Dobbs - 35 passing TDs, 10 rushing TDs

Hurd - 18 rushing TDs, 2 receiving TDs

Kamara - 10 rushing TDs, 5 receiving TDs

For those of you following at home, that's 73 td's over a 15 game stretch. An average of 34.06 points a game. Sounds about right, last year we scored an average of 35 a game however you're average doesn't include FG's, special teams, and defensive scores. And you're gonna say Dobbs throws for 35? I hope that happens but it's not realistic. Last year he had 17. We only have so many touches a game to distribute. Last year we had an average of 76 plays a game. How would you distribute the touches?

Edit: sorry it looks like tony had already gotten into the stats earlier and I missed it.

Yes, I did get into it a bit. Those 73 TD's wouldn't be all though because he's just getting this from 3 particular players & doesn't mention any other player's scores. So, easily 80+ TD's would be involved when you combine the entire teams TD's for the 15 games.

Maybe even towards the 85 TD range if our WR core comes through plus the return game. We could be a team that easily averages 35+ points per game. We have the weapons. But, in case we don't our defense is going to be so good we won't be pressured to score tons of points like we have the past 2-3 seasons.

Shoop is the key for our upcoming season if you ask me. We now have an aggressive DC & he's going to give our guys a lot more chances to make plays. We will do it too. We have way too many really good athletes/players on defense to not accomplish that goal.

You've gotta factor in garbage time and backup TDs as well. If 3 of our players are putting up 34 ppg by themselves, you've gotta imagine they're getting pulled early enough for some backups to have a shot too.
