There's a lot of variables that go into what might be considered running up the score. Each team and game is different. Teams with 3rd stringers that could start on half the country like Bama and Georgia would have to take knees to avoid it. In Tenn's case, not many backups are as good as Milton. The dude is going to score. What, you're never going to pass and give him valuable reps? It can also depend on if your team is getting or has got the injury bug. Why take too many risks? Just end the game already. The times I think teams are running up the score is pretty much literally last minute throwing it to the endzone, or leaving the starters into the 4th when they were up 40 points. I don't feel Tenn was trying to run up the score.
