I know this is super early… but Alabama is the only team we play that could boost our shot in making playoffs. We lose to Bama but still win out , we are probably 4th best in the SEC

A lot more on the schedule than Alabama. A win against Oklahoma may end up being worth a lot more if they continue to perform. A win against Vanderbilt (yes, Vanderbilt) may also end up being worth a lot more if they continue to perform. Maybe more if other teams also continue to play well.

That said, if Tennessee wants to be in the playoffs, then they have to win every game from here on out. 10-2 guarantees nothing. Just puts you in the mix to be picked.

It starts with Mississippi State in two weeks, who'll almost certainly be 4-0, undefeated, playing at home, and looking to make a statement against the Vols in Starkville. Heupel's strugglebus games have always come on the road. I wouldn't for one second be looking past that game in Starkville. Not for one second.

Yeah I’d agree except miss state head coach runs heups scheme and we practice against it and know it well… also Joey Ag is seasoned and I feel a lot more confident about his ability to go on the road and play well due his calm cool demeanor… but there are some games on the schedule that will be tougher then we thought during the preseason… we absolutely can win out but we have to bring it every game and I think this team will still play with that chip every game..

It's football, anything can happen, and anything is possible. Bama and Oklahoma, if we can can past those 2. Not even gonna mention the game down yonder that we should win, but.......

Unfortunately in the SEC we could win every game but also lose every game. It’ll still be a tough year but we are good and have a chance to run the table if things go our way, in every game.

We actually need the teams we play to remain good enough to be ranked so it looks better when we beat them for the CFP if we can go 10-2

Don’t forget to pencil that one game each we lose that we’re not supposed to!
Let's just hope the GA game was a 2 for 1, we haven't beat them in years and with the way it ended we should've won.

Otherwise we got the: we can't beat GA, lose a game we shouldn't(MissST/KY), can't beat Bama at home, can't win in the swamp,

Yep, seems there are more candidates this year than last for that. Miss St. Arky and Vanderbilt could all beat us. OU, Bama and UF are all going to be tough games. The offense should give us a chance to win any game left on the schedule. But the defense is gonna have to come on for us to have any shot at making the playoff.

It is still too early to tell how everything will shake out; the only certainty is that we need Georgia to look amazing the rest of the season. SOS is an official factor in CFP selection this year, so we need the Pups to look good.

Oklahoma might end up being a critical deciding game for our CFP hopes.

Just win baby, and it will take care of itself.

When was the last time we beat Florida at the Swamp?
When I was 20, lulz!
Yeah that will be tough as well but do you think UF is playing better football than Vandy right now ? I guess they could improve as the season progresses. There is a really good chance UF has an interim coach by the time we play them.

My thoughts are that the two toughest games will be Ok with Mateer and
Florida with anybody at qb (except myself!)

We really have a gauntlet left and could lose anywhere from 1 more game to 4 more games. MS, OK, Ala, Fla, even Vandy are all gonna give us all we want. with possible losses in there.

I’m sorry, but I think any talk of running the table is waay premature. Like it or not, we have some holes in our D that make vulnerable to any decent offense. If the SEC rankings are at all accurate, every game will be a battle, including Cowbell U. As someone on here posted, we need to be in beast mode every game.

Amen to this. We can't take any game for granted, much less talk about playoffs or running the table. All the conference games can turn out to be battles.

You are exactly right. No real “bottom feeders” in the SEC this year like the Big 10, ACC etc.
Freakin Georgia Tech does not even have one ranked team on their schedule until they play Georgia last game of the season. I saw one list yesterday that had Florida #15 in the SEC right now and they have only given up 2 Tds in 3 games and two of the games were vs ranked opponents.
