Today is a great baseball day.

Except that the Reds and Giants have to play a deciding game five at 1 pm eastern -- 10 in the morning in San Francisco! -- so that TV can have their precious Yankees in prime time. They are shoehorning too many games into too short a time. They should have waited till next year to start the new wild card format.

I'm totally with you, but for someone who doesn't have anything today, it's great for me. I'm over last week's game enough to focus my attention back on baseball.

Game 162 last year and the division series this year are proof that baseball doesn't need the extra wild card. Baseball provides its own magic, its own drama, its own romance. If they continue to tinker with it, they are just going to screw it up.

The extra wild card added more drama at the trading deadline and kept more teams in it at the end of the year. That's good for baseball. Once they get the playoff scheduling fixed, it will be fine.

The extra WC ruined the deadline ha. They have to push the deadline back if they're keeping this coin flip bull****.
