they all three half their pros and cons

Pros:
Foster: hard nose downhill runner
Coker: speed and play making ability
Hardesty: good pass blocker

Cons:
Foster: fumbles/ego
Coker: fumbles
Hardesty: too many jukes, doesn't hit the hole

that's just my take

I think the reason Hardesty didn't hit the hole like he should this year is because his knee still wasn't 100% and he wasn't confident in it.

I have always liked Coker and for that matter Foster. Both can make the Vols a nc threat next few years. They have different ways of running that can help the team.

looks like if he wasn't 100% then he couldn't plant to make all the jukes and moves :ermm:

He could plant, but you could tell that he just wasn't running the way he wanted to. Remember the year after Edgerrin James injured his knee? He was ok, but he was nowhere near where he was before the injury, and he wasn't running the same as he did before the injury. The year after that, he got back to running in his style had a much better year.

in theory that makes sense. but the problem was mental. a lot of times he was probably afraid to take the big hit so he tried juke and move around the defenders instead. hopefully the training and practice in the offseason will bring his confidence back.

Hardesty had some good runs this year though...that run against Cal was one of the best runs I have ever seen in my entire life

He has a ton of talent, I just think the knee forced him to think too much. Once he is completely healthy, you'll see a lot more of those runs like he had against Cal and Memphis.

Are you saying we could beat North Carolina? If so, I wholeheartedly agree.

I don't think Foster has the ego to play fullback

What has Foster ever done to call his ego into question? I would think he would be somewhat humble. Coker and Hardesty were the backs that were highly rated out of high school, not Foster. They got immediate playing time at UT. Foster had to redshirt behind Houston, Riggs, and company. Then, he was relegated to third string behind Riggs and Hardesty. When he finally got his shot, he seemed to be the hardest worker on the team. I would think all of that would lead him to be humbled.

Att. Yds. Avg. Long TD
LaMarcus Coker 108 696 6. 89(TD) 5
Montario Hardesty 107 384 3.6 43(TD) 4
Arian Foster 91 322 3.5 24 5

Tough call.

How come the format looks different in the post vs. the preview. Oh well.

Good grief. I didn't realize it was that lopsided. He's got twice the yards as the other two combined, with only half the carries.

I can not believe that Hardesty started some games this year. What are the coaches smoking?
