The target seems to be two to three more running backs, but it would make more sense for the staff to take two. Give me Imani Cross and any one of Jovon Robinson or Brian Kimbrow, and I'll be happy.

I also like I'tavius Mathers, but I think it is unlikely he will be a Volunteer. What say you all? Who are we in on? Who would rather have?

My list would read as:

#1 Keyante Green Yes, I know he is next year but if we got him now...I would pass on taking another back beyond Cross.

#2 Maurice Grice

#3 Brian Kimbrow

#4 R.J. Robinson

#5 Jovon Robinson

Why do you keep saying this crap? We aren't going to pass on getting a RB this year just because we have one wrapped up next year. Next year NEVER factors into this year's recruiting. Ever.

We'll take Kimbrow and another back who wants to commit. I cannot see only taking one or not taking a RB in the plans at all.

He thinks this Xbox. Skipping years in recruiting is why we got in the hole we're in.

We are taking a back...Cross. I did not say we were not taking ANY backs. I also said in an earlier thread that we would take 1 more UNLESS Green came on board now as some seem to think he may. I will agree I am not like most on here and feel Kimbrow is the holy trinity to this years class. His 3-4 carries a game would not seem to factor alot into our run game.

I'll take 6-10 carries a game from a guy with "take it to the house" speed and throw in a few punt returns a game. You absolutely take those kind of guys.

My big concern would be are we going to have enough carries to go around? We are not going to be able to keep backs like Neal, Lane, and Smith giving them 5-8 carries a game. We only run the ball 20-30 times a game. Add in Rogers or Hunter with the end around they like to run and I think we would have issues in the "clubhouse". JMO

Wasn't a problem when we had Bryson, Lewis, Henry, Stephens, Stallworth, Wilson, Copeland, and Price all on the same roster.

Not very likely were getting Kimbrow so I would take

Cross
RJ Robinson
and a small speed back similar to Kimbrow. Just doesnt look very promising on him. Hope we get him but looks doubtful right now.

Your right, but I feel it's 2 very different situations. Winning does tend to be enough for some players. That was a very different time in Tennessee football and I would venture to guess some of those guys liked winning as much as they liked getting their stats. Kids now a days are different IMO. If they are not able to showcase their talent...they will find a place they can. Also, without looking up the stats...I would bet that back in those years...we ran the ball alot more than we have under CDD. I think he and Chaney will continue to throw the ball alot and there will be less carries for the backs.

We will run more this year. Our OLINE will be more experienced and we dont have the experience at WR we had last year. Plus we have some RB's now that can run and Neal will be much improved. We wont have to rely on the deepball as much now with Lane and Neal taking carries from Poole. Chaney and Dooley want to run the ball and will have a much better chance this year.

Outside of Kimbrow our Coach's just don't seem very impressed with the instate rbs and Hubbard even said they wont lose sleep over not getting him. Must be better prospects higher up on our board. They can afford to be more selective now with Lane, Smith and Neal.

Kimbrow will eventually be a big factor in whatever offense he ends up in. Little question. You don't keep that kind of speed on the bench.

They love Mathers. He's high on their board.

Kimbrow is too but with all the RBs they have offered just don't think they will lose sleep if they get Cross RJ Robinson and a speed back. Would like Mather's and Kimbrow because they are instate guys but a combo of the other guys would be great also.

Who else besides Kimbrow, Robinson, and Mathers is the staff looking at?

These are the ones who arent committed that we have offered..We have offered 7-8 more that are committed.

RJ Robinson
Russell Shell
Grice
Wes Brown
Barry Sanders
Cyrus Jones
Kenno Loyal
Daniel Taylor
Keith Byars JR

Not saying who we do and dont have a chance with but those are some and there may be others.
