id say if anyone has to go McKeefery needs to be just as accountable. Our guys arent as strong or fast as our SEC opponents.

It takes time to build strength. You can't just give them a magic pill and be senior strength level in a few weeks. Guy hasn't been here a year yet, be patient.

Lane showed enough last night that i think Poole needs to watch from the sidelines. He may put the ball on the ground every now and then but he has some shake and bake that Poole just doesn't possess.

The other part i think is scheme. I remember those Purdue offenses, they were pass happy and they never had much, if any running game up there. That just won't cut it here. These defenses are worlds better than anything Chaney saw in the Big Slow conference. He needs to adapt or he'll get run after another year of that.
That is so true. We're one dimensional in a league where that's not possible. It's exactly why our QB got hurt and our passing game was not as good last night. Without a rungame, then they (Defense) are coming with pressure more often than not and the QB has a big bullseye on his jersey.

:lolabove: i know iv'e been wondering if iv'e been spelling it wrong after all these years.

They're confusing to some; there is an effect of their affect on posters. You're telling us of your confusion too. Not to mention the two times you used iv'e instead of I've.

I agree, Neal looked explosive and actually moved the ball. The problem is he fumbled twice in just a few minutes. I don't think he saw the field again after that 2nd fumble.
After that 2nd fumble, he didn't need to see the field again. He has to learn that holding onto the football is tantamount to everything else.

Fair assessment. Its classic pouring on the fire. I apologize. I know the coaches are doing the best they can.

if dooley and company starts rajon neal at runnin back and switches out some coaches on the offensive side and players on the o-line they might have a chance to make a bowl game. otherwise tenn will loose to vandy. just keepin it honest.

Neal is terrible I wouldn't renew his scholarship. They say he is fast if he is haven't seen it. And he can't hold on to the ball. There is a reason they moved him to receiver because we are not stacked at rb.

neal had the longest rush of the night and he's the fastest guy on the team. we have no running back's coach period. we have no offensive line that can run block either. yes we will loose to vandy. am i the only the that has watched vandy on t.v. on here. their defense is goo guys i'm tellin ya. their offense sucks badly at times.

Really, there defense is goo, is that a good or bad thing? Sounds to me like that would make them pretty slow.

We will not lose to Vandy even if we started Nash Nance at tailback

Watching the replay, there are a couple things I don't like about the way our O-line is contributing (or isn't) to the run game. First is just strength, often they aren't able to move around big d-linemen like Georgia has. That makes sense when you consider their youth. The second is the scheme, which as has been discussed on here features a lot of draw looks. That means they aren't just firing off the ball into the guy in front of them but standing up as if it's a pass play then trying to muscle forward with a lot less leverage. Not saying that this isn't a valid scheme, but it doesn't seem to be working with our young line and is perhaps better suited to a more veteran line that has been in a strength program for a few years. Just my two cents.

Rajion's fumble problems are unacceptable. Raijon was my favorite recruit in his class but he'd be 4th string RB behind Poole, Lane, DY and Smith if I were the coach.

Fire the RB coach.....sounds good....he has Poole who is average at best and legally blind...Neal who is fast but can't wash the french fry grease off of his hands and Lane who won't stay in his running lanes.....fire him...now!

I'm not one to bash other people's posts, but you clearly do not follow the program closely. Neal sucks in terms on holding on to the ball. Yeah, he's fast, but that doesn't help when he fumbles often. Our coaches are doing a remarkable job considering what kind of mess the walked in to. Will the staff need to be tweaked in a year or two? Maybe, but they don't suck. They O-line is having some issues run blocking, but pass blocking is pretty good. I'm not qualified to give an answer to fix it, but I imagiane it will be better or our coaches will make some changes. Has anyone ever considered the guys playing on the field are the best we have right now??? The guy on the bench is probably worse than the guy on the field. That is what people mean when they say we are young and inexperienced. And on to Vandy...have you watched them play this year? They suck as usual. They are much improved on defence, but no way they can score enough points to win. In case you forgot, we lost our best reciever, now our QB, and we have minimal to no senior leadership to show these newer guys the way. This team will get better as they take their licks. We only need 3 more wins to get a bowl. We have 3 cupcakes left. We will be fine in the LONG run. Not many realistic fans expected much more than 6-6 this year anyway. While 9-3/8-4 were possible, they were not probable. Give it time.

He needs the same treatment that Young's been getting. He carries a ball with him everywhere and anyone has the right to try to knock it out of his arms. He pays a price for every drop. That would work with Neal also.

I will honestly say that I do not know what is going on with the OL. They are a HUGE disappointment.

But Neal? Really? They've done everything but drop opportunity in his lap and he isn't getting it done.

I like him. I hope he keeps his head up, keeps working, and has a great career at UT. However he has given absolutely NO REASON for us to believe he's the savior at RB.

I keep going back to the depth and total quality of our defensive line. In my view, all of the real development of our blockers is coming during the games and not in practice. Since we generally are more successful with the passing game, they are getting positive feedback, which helps them improve in that area. But, they were fooled in the off season with whatever success they had against our less than complete D Line and were not ready for run blocking against the SEC. We'll see this every year until we have a fully manned D Line they can compete against in practice.
