Why is every ut fan in the world obsessed with running the ball.
Every one of you guys would make awful coaches.. we have an elite qb and two 1st round wide recievers and a o line that loves to pass block

Coach dooley would be a stubborn fool to come out this year and say we are gonna run the ball cause thats what ut does.
Coach dooley has brought in all these WRs for a reason

1. Smart coaches study their opponents and game plan according to the known tendencies, weaknesses, and other factors relevant to a specific opponent.

2. Football is actually a war game where position, strategy, tactical adjustments, and even unorthodox actions to maximize victory are employed.

3. Consequently, since everyone expects the UT to come out slinging the pigskin, doing exactly the opposite isn't asinine. Especially if the opponent's defense is shown to not be able to effectively defend against the run. The object of any war is to end it by winning. Thus the end justifies the means.

4. When a team doesn't play with a plan that takes the above into account, they end up being:

Miami vs. Penn. State (1987)
Miami vs. Tenn. (1986)
Okla. vs. Boise State (2007)

I've been telling people Neal was the guy for us since last year. 210lb and 4.35 speed he was literally one coach away from developing into possibly something good. Not to mention he is also a huge threat to come out of the back field on passing plays being that he played WR last year. This guy might be our start this year. His catching ability is what's going to give defences problems add a running ability he is going to be a stud.

The running backs will have a huge game if chaney stays balanced enough to ensure that they get enough touches. Not just on running plays but on designed screen and pass plays.

It's not that we think we can be great coaches or that we have to run the ball because "that's what UT does", it's that I think we're going to be able to this year because of the fact of the great receivers we have. If you think we're going to throw 50 times a game and win, then you're out of your mind.

Maybe not 50 times a game but 30-40.
Spurriers teams used to pass around 40 to 50 times a game agianst gokd Ds and win.
He had the same personel we do
I do agree with you guys to come out and run it quite a bit agianst ncstate..then surprise uf airing it out from the very first series

Thanks for not taking my post earlier personally. And you're right about Spurrier's O. I just think that so much emphasis has been put on the 3 wrs and Bray, that we'll probably come out and shock everyone by having a great running game.

TBH, I don't think anyone cares how we do it as long as we win. Would be nice to keep all opponents guessing all year though. Friday can't get here soon enough.
