Butch passing on Helfrich for Scott was incredibly dumb. Not surprising given he had a history of dumb decisions. Had he gotten Helfrich Pruitt likely would’ve retained him imo.

There is a bunch of crap on Twitter about Freeze being offered the HC job at Liberty. I think it's mostly if not entirely a joke though, right?

Much less risk for Hugh if he goes to Liberty imo. He can definitely compete there. Given our history, he could work wonders here and we still go 5-7, and it ends up effecting him as a result. And I doubt he wants to be handcuffed by Malzahn.

I don't think Helfrich was ever interested in this job. He ended up taking an NFL OC job (Bears). Safe to say he had better opportunities.

Perhaps. But that may work against him getting the AU job if the hire is Gus', as I'm not sure he'd be keen to hire his own replacement. And if the hire isn't the head coach's, it might deter a quality coach from wanting to hire into that AD.

You guys kill me, Boyd said it, people that work in the athletic dept have said it and boosters in the know have all said there is not a holdup in these hires. I guess they are all in a big conspiracy and determined to keep the football program down simply because it's making too much money right now.

Terrific.

The guy that gets fired for an "anemic" offense is one of our top names supposedly.

And we get to compete with Auburn and probably Alabama in the near future for an OC.

Sounds like another well oiled coaching search on the Hill.
