Rumors of Jimbo Fisher wants the Tennessee Job

“Rumors” I live in Tallahassee and there has been no rumors of Jimbo Fisher wanting to be the next head coach at Tennessee. The talk around Tallahassee is the majority are unhappy right now with how there season has played out so far. They could careless about losing to Alabama. When Deondre Francois went down it looked like the spirit was taken from every FSU fan.

Yeah, I can't see any reason why Jimbo would want to leave FSU for Tennessee. Go from a great program that can pay well to a train wreck.

Not wanting Fisher is far from a reason to call this fanbase embarrassing.
no, it's not. but the general attitude of some regarding the prospect is just ridiculous....

we go from "must have proven winner" to "he's overrated, don't want". yet we see some of the names being thrown around here lately, and yeah, it makes me wonder......

personally, i don't think he'd be great here either, but could he win the East? recruit? bring a style of football that fits more with what we expect?

I just wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the notion of a NC winning coach showing some interest......i'd be more interested in him that Chip Kelly or John Gruden, i can say that.

when you start eliminating guys that have actually won something in the last 5 years, as a program that can't sniff it's own division in a terrible SEC East, i don't know that we should turn our noses up.....cause you and i both know what we're likely to end up with in the end.

that is if there was anything actually to this rumor, which there's not, so it's a moot point anyway.

Maybe Jimbo is tired of Tallahassee and everything that has happened since he has been there. He’s had a lot of success on the field, but his personal life was in shambles and very publicly. I wouldn’t blame him for wanting to get away from all that.

Fisher would get us to a natty in 3 years.

Couldn’t care less about a natty. Just do something Butch Jones couldn’t do here in 100 years....win a bad SECe division. Unfortunately, Georgia, under first time head coach Kirby Smart in year 2 has already lapped Tennessee under Jones and the window is closed.

No way I'd put that guy over Gruden.

He is a used car salesman like Butch.

Again, how many times has he walked on the field this year with the less talented team?

probably just 1. lose the qb in that game, the hurricane...funky start to the season for sure, and they haven't recovered.

i will say though, i think the ACC is still better than some realize or want to admit. NCSU is as legit as they've been in a long time. MIami, while not "the u" redux, just yet, is better than they've been in a while. Clemson is still very good, VT is pretty good....and FSU won't be down long. Duke is competitive, Pitt is competitive (most years)...if they could get an NCSU, UNC, GT type team to stick and stay as a top 25 program more regularly, that conf is legitimately 5-7 teams deep now.

it's definitely not just FSU and the gang anymore....

and yeah, he may be a used car salesman ...but not like butch. he's actually won divisions, conferences and a national title.

I have some connections with FSU, I don’t think we get jimbo. I do believe there is interest.

Jimbo would be an amazing catch and to compare him to Scott frost is laughable, prob not happening though.

Totally nonsensical post. Jimbo Fisher, 80-21 at one of the best, strongest P5 programs in the country, with a national championship title is just like Butch freaking Jones? What??

Also, Jon Gruden has never been a college head football coach, he’s never run a program, never had to recruit, etc, etc. How in the world are you not putting one of 4 active coaches in all of college football with a national title on his resume, who has been wildly successful at FSU ahead of him? Help me understand that one.

Gruden has two years of college coaching experience. I realize he brings a big name, a lot of knowledge, and could likely draw in recruits, but we have absolutely no idea how he would adapt to the college game, nor how much he'd enjoy how much more work it is than the NFL. He hasn't coached a game of football in 10 years now. I get the novelty behind the idea of having him as coach, but to hands down, take him over a coach who is a proven commodity at the college level with a National Championship to his name, and is still very successful....that seems crazy to me.

Fisher does have a lot of talent at FSU right now, but when you lose your starting QB, and now your starting RB, and replace them with true freshmen, all bets are off. They return 10 of 11 offensive starters next year, and potentially 6 of 11 defensive starters. I'm betting this year is an anomaly.

Neither guy will be at Tennessee next year, so it's really a moot point, but I'm betting that whoever it is, we would trade them for Jimbo Fisher in an instant.

He is a used car salesman like Butch, did not compare their records.

There are 25 guys that could produce that record at FSU. He is nothing special. Losing a qb is no excuse for the losses this year other than Bama. And oh yea, bama was cleaning his clock before the QB was hurt.

Ranking this clown over Gruden is idiocy.

you're not really disproving my original point here.......

Yes Fisher is going to leave a top 10 program where he has won a national championship and doesn’t have to recruit out state to have top 10 talent for Tennessee.

Who are you kidding?

Why though? Just saying it doesn't make it so. You have made no case for Gruden as a college coach. And if Jimbo is so average, why was LSU ready to make him the crowned Prince of Baton Rouge last year to the tune of $6.8 mil/yr?

Very few college coaches luck into a National title like you seem to believe JF did. Gene Chizek and Larry Coker are a couple that come to mind in recent history because they stepped in and won with predominantly the previous coach's talent and then fell off. That hasn't been the case for Fisher.

Yes, LSU decision makers are the new criteria for great coaches. Lol.

This buffoon lost to Duke. He lost his qb not his starting 22.
