I live near Tallahassee and while I have no insider info on this, the one thing Known down here is that he does not get along with the FSU administration. Not saying he’s interested in TN but I could see him getting out of FSU for the right opportunity.

Fools everyone who'd not take Jimbo, or Fuente or Mullen or Stoops or Miles or Petrino. All those fellas could build a genuine contender out of the resources UT offers. Problem? We'll be lucky to land any of them. UT'S subpar athletic disposition lies in a far - too - bottom - line motivated administration, exacerbated by a sizable group of fans whose negative rancor provides a marked toxic stain on everything colored in Tennessee orange. Forget Gruden & Kelly already. They've just been pipe dreams. Also, give it up with hoping for Patterson or Peterson or...for Pete's sake, freakin' Franklin. They've got no reason to leave where they're doing so well, and have got to be loving their situations. Frost and the other mid-level flash risers aren't sure bets for a P5 school. 'Want another Butch? Anybody who's against hiring a Jimbo Fisher or Bob Stoops, et al, maybe ought to give up sports...maybe take up watching soap operas. Jeeeeez.

As much as I enjoy the Gruden stuff ...and it was fun for a minute joking around with it...but it's time to get back to reality. Gruden isn't leaving MNF to coach at UT. I'm hoping most of you don't actually believe it would happen...and you're just playing along with the fun joke. Reality is if we have a chance at a Jimbo Fisher we probably take it...and it would be a solid hire. We deserve a Gruden or Chip Kelly type hire..I just don't think we'll get it.

Our facilities are awesome...we're always a prime time game on a major network...at least most of the time. SEC team. How many times has UT been on a national broadcast compared to even Auburn or LSU? UT has a ton to offer. A rising star state of Tennessee to recruit from? 100,000 plus stadium...avid fanbase....national exposure second to none? A solid coach can do BETTER at UT than they have at other places. Imo.

Yes, you're right about the State of Tennessee. Middle Tennessee is producing more top talent than ever. If the next coach could come in and lock all the top talent from that area the Vols would be rolling again. Ten win seasons would be the norm.

He coached at Auburn from 93-98

LSU from 00-'06 as QB and OC.

I guess he doesn't know anything about SEC football.

One thing is for sure, he knows and I know a helluva lot more about SEC football than you.

This is EXACTLY what he's doing. I'm surprised a lot more coaches haven't floated something like this out there already to get their share of raises/extensions.

Jimbo Fisher just a signed a contract extension with a buyout of roughly $40M. That is such a prohibitive sum, that there is no way a school could pay it this year, or any time soon. No school in the history of college football has paid anything close to that number.

It’s just not feasible. Half of that would be an astronomical sum, much less the whole thing. It’s just not going to happen.

Overall, Jimbo is 80-21 (.792) with 4 division titles, 3 conference titles, and a national championship in 7.5 seasons. Jimbo is 53-20 (.726) without Winston. He is 33-14 (.702) without either Winston or Cook. But excluding Jimbo's best 4 seasons is kind of like saying that Saban hasn't won anything at Bama if you exclude his national championship years.

Jimbo wouldn't be my first choice to replace Butch, but he would arguably be the best coach in the SEC East if hired.

The only joke right now is UT football and butch jones are still together, i'd like it to stop.

Jimbo is a hell of a recruiter, He's an experienced, big time, championship coach. He is THAT name you all have been crying for. Sometimes a guy just has to hit the reset button. This may be a case of Fisher being at florida state too long.

I just have one question, does Fisher want a piece of Alabama? I believe he does and it would be one hell of a ride.

I'd entertain the idea of Fisher. He's proven, won at a high level and let's his coaches coach. I don't know why anyone wouldn't want him. His staffs work on getting Cam Akers last season tells me he's gonna recruit at a high level also.
