Rumors Flying Around Tonight

If he is the high caliber coach people think he is, he will! I said in the Spring I like Pruitt's style, old school, but I wanted to see about 10 or 15 players leave then I would know his actions match his words! Coach Pruitt, I am waiting!

I’m sure that is his priority this evening, making sure he reassures you that cuts will be made.

How many reasons you want? For one, it takes two years for ANY system to take hold. Year two for any HC is considered the magical year, I can give you 20 names plus, that is because the system is in place and clicks, first year, Everyone is learning, year two, you can execute and play much faster and it becomes instinctive, if you fire a coordinator after one year, you are throwing out the baby with the dirty water, TN will have to start over again. Two, recruiting, still some big fish that Helton was very involved with, including 2 5-star linemen. Three, word gets around, high profile coordinators will be hesitant to come to Tn knowing they don’t have the normal time to implement their system (takes two years), want me to name more reasons?

I disagree with you that it takes two years for positive things to happen on the offense. The play calling has been terrible from Game 1. Do you really think the lineman would leave because of Helton ? I don't think so but they may go if Pruitt or maybe the offensive line coach left. Take out the garbage now and we will not have to put up with the smell for year 2. He is a lemon.

As so many have elequantily put it, is happening. From player to coordinators. What do we think Pruitt is going to do? What do we expect him to do? Is Richmond gone and who else do we think is packing their bags? If the OC position is open, who do we want? This Vandy OC seems legit, I want play calling like that personally.

Discuss?

you mean eloquently? I think it's clear Richmond is gone, so is Helton.

What else is there?

Go in the way back machine to January, when many were proclaiming Pruitt's first move would be to start improving the roster by significant subtraction. That did not happen, and I predict the turnover this year will come well, well short of what the same wrong, loud voices proclaimed last year. Pruitt couldn't afford to do it then and the situation is even worse now with more graduations.

Yep, I know someone that lost their scholarship when a new coach came in told him " that he didn't fit their future plans" .

There was a movie with Robby Benson many years ago in which he was a scholarship basketball player and the coach tried to get him to renounce his scholarship. The character refused and the coach made his life difficult for the rest of the year including having football players participate in basketball practices to rough up the Benson character. I know this is fiction but does the scholarship player have any rights to refuse his scholarship being taken away ?

I won’t disagree that he has not been a great hire but if a coach gets a reputation of burning through assistants then that can create hiring issues especially when you have no track record as a head coach
To do that it needs to be a habit. Or it has to happen more than once.

I'm not saying he should or shouldnt let him go but if hes holding on to him knowing hes not the long term answer that tells me he doesnt have the stones required for the job.

I don't know the answer, but he did not try to do it. Just transferred to lower division and played. I assume he thought that if the coach didn't want him and he did refuse and won the case that he would just ride the bench.

I am thinking a lot more "insider" dirt comes out, regarding the struggles this season... with that I would expect more staff changes... shifting of roles, and others out the door. Just my gut feeling right now. I think some tweaking is needed and should strengthen Pruitt's staff and focus. The news about the OC is encouraging I think.
