Rumors about Coker

This is from Fostermom on the InsideTennessee boards.

"the RB situation...if you want to call it that. But since I've been quoted from another board, I would prefer that the information come directly from me.

This is precisely why I don't like rumors and innuendos. Nothing anybody says should be taken as fact. Things change constantly and none of us know how it will all shake out. And none of us (and I do mean none of us) knows what's going on inside that team unless we are a coach or player. Period.

All I do know is that LaMarcus lost his grandfather a couple of weeks ago and left to be with his family. So of course he wasn't available to run with the team. And I know he has a class with Arian and was there. I also resent the implication of Arian or Montario wanting to transfer. This sort of crap makes me livid. Beyond that, I refuse to speculate on anything else.

My suggestion is that we don't count LaMarcus out of anything. And I also suggest we don't turn on him or Arian or Montario. I realize this is a "what have you done for me lately" business...but these kids continue to give all they've got to this team and this university and I think the attitude some have that is quick to turn on them is bothersome."

Not to link us away, but if you want to read it at the source its found here InsideTennessee.com Forums

While I understand her sentiment, and think that this could be a wild rumor I disagree with the notion that only the players and the coaches actually know what is going on. There are boosters, reporters and friends of the team that know every everything that happens surrounding this program.

Actually, Coker was the 2nd or 3rd rated RB by Rivals or Scout (can't remember which) when he came out.

Wow, my mistake...I didn't realize he was rated that high...Thanks for bringing that to my attention...:hi:

Coker was 71 on the Rivals 100 and Creer was 57...not that big of a difference so it probably means little...I just really like everything I have seen and heard about Creer...

2 comments, First while I see where Fostermom is coming from, if it makes you livid, don't visit boards as they are made up of the MOST fickle of fans or at least the most demanding and do not constitute the attitude of 95% of TN fans (same goes for talk shows, as it is mostly only a vocal minority that checks in). Not to mention BBs are tailmoade for rumor-moungering.

Second, while I think Coker does have some valid complaints about the way he was used (or not used as it may be) especially earlier in the season. IF this is true, a bad attitude is probably the worst way to ameliorate a coaches bias against you. Which begs the question for any player that acts this way, is the most important thing your ego and proving you were right, or getting playing time and making an impact.

Ironic, isn't it?

Listen, thinking Creer will step up is a prediction of mine. I have seen some of his tape and from all angles it looks like he will be a stud. To just respond to someone's post and say "No we don't" is a completely different story than having a good feeling about a prospect. So, I am not sure what you are getting at or trying to prove...There is no way to compare me having a gut feeling about a prospect because I have seen his tape...that's the only thing I will say to back it up he hasn't been on the field for us obviously...However, to just quote what someone says and respond with "No we don't" and provide no reason why they feel that way is a different story and you can't deny that...

Most things you say on here I am in complete agreement with...

once again you seem to think that those who post here are concerned with you agreeing with us. hate to burst your bubble, but I doubt he cares if you agree with him, I know I dont

I don't understand what people problem is around here...like what is the purpose of this post?

Believe me, it does not make me sleep anymore or less at night knowing whether you of all people agree or care about what I say...

I guess I am just not that way...I try to see everyones point of view and not shoot them completely down like some do...This is a message board for gods sake...It's easy to sit behind a computer and say whatever you want cause in most cases you wouldn't face to face, and maybe you would, I don't know you, but alot wouldn't...

I don't try and stir the pot like some, I try to say what I have to say and people can choose to agree or disagree, we all have opinions thats what makes this board...If we all felt the same then it would be boring...But to sit behind a computer and completely bash someones opinions serves no purpose in my eyes just because they don't think the way you do...as stated before if we all agreed what would be the purpose...

I've read the other board/thread where these rumors started. Basically Coker's grandfather died and he was away from campus for 2 weeks so he was missing school/workouts. He is back in school/workouts now. A poster had spoken to a parent of one of the players on the team who he considered reliable. My 2 cents.

naw im disgruntled at fulmer. if fulmer could run a 4.3 40 i would be disgruntled at coker. im just saying that when we finally let him in the game he scores our only touchdown. sure the rest of the team didn't show up, but a couple of more big plays that hes more of capable of making and we win. however, i also understand about grades and stuff...its just that that stuff gets thrown out the window when we aren't winning (in my world at least)

if coach could run tha 40 without stopping to catch his breath i would be surprised.

Gary.

Welcome to the board, but please tell me you're not going to start with the whole third person thing.

I mean, we just got Slick Rick posting without mentioning himself every 5 seconds, so don't make us go through that again

I'm concerned about our friend Gut Wrench Gary. He forgot to start the last sentence with "Gut Wrench Gary says".

yes it was more on the coaching staff.

Or maybe it was because PSU's QB played over his head and Foster laid on the ground twice to give them 10 pts the unearned way.

Good grief. PSU was better than I expected and UT still should have beaten them by two scores with or without Coker in the first half.

If Coker's head isn't screwed on any better than that then he's the one who needs the adjustment... not the coaches who are rightly holding him accountable.

FTR, I'll believe Coker is not with the program when he or Fulmer say so. Fulmer did the right thing. Hopefully Coker is a big enough man to respect him the more for it.

Gut Wrench Gary says he is not like Slick Rick. What is wrong with starting your post out with "Gut Wrench Gary says". That is the way your supposed to do it isn't it?
