Rumored: UF to suspend Will Grier

I don't if this has been brought up already but supposedly the NCAA had already told Florida not to play Grier...
So Florida Admin and coaches already new about this and played him anyway....
Also heard they may have to vacate all wins, don't know yet. that may happen at the end of the year.

So hearing rumors that he had tested positive before year and was playing under appeal. Someone posted a time stamp on a Gator Board from 9 pm (during UF Mizzou) that basically said enjoy tonight Grier is gone. Anyone know if any truth to that? Because of you knowingly don't suspend a player who tests positive well...

Just read a sports center article that said this is a 1 calendar year suspension! So if we play Florida early again next year he will have to sit!!

Being curious- I wasted some time and found this: https://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files/DT Book 2014-15.pdf

Section 8.2.2 makes clear that there must be 2 samples that test positive for there to be a failed test. Upon the first sample testing positive someone at the school is informed and the player is notified that they have the right to be present for the testing of the second sample.
That could very likely explain how someone "knew" of the failed test on Saturday, even though under the NCAA testing procedures the samples did not fail until Sunday.

Also - this is assuming it was an NCAA drug test. And not a UF test or an SEC test (does the SEC even do drug tests?)

he is gone for the season;tested for positive on a test of some sort.still have a very good d,but they will lose to lsu and georgia this season maybe fsu.

Funny that it comes out after they virtually have the East locked up with the two worst teams in the East left to play.
er they have LSU at Baton Rouge Saturday, pencil that in as an SEC loss please

exactly. NCAA protocol says the player is immediately ineligible and remains ineligible throughout the duration of any appeal.

Also it's important to note, for the NCAA drug test there is not a retake - or 2nd test to confirm the fail. Player is ineligible immediately. The only time a 2nd test occurs is when the player appeals the result.

100%correct

There wont be any vacated games but I am reading that he may be suspended as many as 6 games into next season. So he'll miss the UT game next year, unless he wins an appeal and has that reduced.

Good that he may miss UT next year, even though Treon Harris has beaten UT too.

LSU is the only other SEC team I dont mind. Love Les. Yall kill Florida for us!

I usually want to kick Les in the nuts about once a game. :) But as far as SEC coaches, he really is about as good a guy as you can be in that position. Hopefully it will be a tough test for LSU, I think LSU needs a hard victory, not sure they have gotten one yet this year. Of course, "securing victory"* is the objective of Les.

* Les joke
