There was no helmet to helmet contact. That is what makes this different form JRM hit. The head always leads because it is positioned superior to the shoulders. Unless we figure out how to reposition the head somewhere different on the human body then that's the way it will be. It's all about head position and weather it makes contact with the ball carriers helmet. You can't spear with the head down but as long as there is no helmet to helmet contact it won't get called.
If that hit was illegal, the world has become so wussified that football should just be banned or colleges can play flag.
I think the world is already there. But, I'm one, of the few evidently, that doesn't think JRM's hit was illegal..
Not to derail, but I question why the 'Quarterback' of the defense is playing special teams on team 120. Do we not have enough young talent to cover that? Let one of the younger guys get ejected for 'targeting' not JRM.. Questionable coaching IMO..

Mussberger and Palmer were wrong about that last night, Al. JRM is certainly a vocal leader on the defense, but our "defensive QB" is Kirkland at MLB. He's the play-caller and sheriff. It comes with the position. And from all accounts, young Darrin is doing the job very well.
Not disagreeing with you about any of your other points.
"Rumore" - is that Italian?
. . .His hit would have been around the waist until the guy squats. Thats what needs fixed on the targeting rule which I had hopes for this year but doesn't look like it's fixed. . .

Special teams are a hallmark of Butch's system. One of the reasons we have been so successful in that department is that he isn't scared to play starters. It's a trade-off and to most it would appear the benefits outweigh the risks. Cam Sutton only lead the nation in PR yd average and took 2 to the house last year.
I wasn't taking their word for it. They are idiots but that's another discussion.. I honestly thought JRM was 'the guy'.. At the very least he's the heart and vocal leader of the defense and they looked flat after he left the game. I still question why is he out there on ST's? I have to believe we've got the talent now to cover it..

I disagree, the rules have been modified such that a shoulder to the head is targeting. You can't hit the ball carrier in the head period.
