Rumore swirling dobbs has broken ribs

He seemed to be fine after a few minutes. I watched some of the post game antics on the SEC Network, and he was participating with a smile.

He did flat out get lit up on that last hit though. I've seen him do that a few times: lead with his chest. WTH, Josh? Don't do that! If he would have dove low, he wouldn't have gotten tattooed and his momentum may have taken him into the endzone.

But, I tip my cap to JD. He was just trying to make a play.

The run was very similar to his 2 point conversion against Missouri 2 years ago where he dove over the top. This time the defender made a textbook-hit to prevent him from going over, and it jarred the ball loose. Thank goodness we recovered it.

As long as we are talking about the poop show last night, I am really glad the camera cut off right as JRM threw his helmet in the locker room. It appeared that he was going to destroy something and I did not want to see that on national t.v.

I almost question the camera guy for following him that far in the tunnel..... Let the man vent in private.

Anyone else notice this or just me?

Neither Dormady or JG will ever be confused for Worley. JG and Dobb's are on the same level from a running aspect but JG actually can throw the ball and complete it to his own teammates and not the opposing teams players. And Dormady is a much better runner than also has a very strong arm and is accurate..2 things neither Dobb's nor Worley had.
I guess you've come to this conclusion from the extensive footage of JG playing college football?

Why? As the QB he wears a flack jacket so his ribs are padded. I'd be surprised if his ribs were cracked.

That rib protector doesn't cover every rib....watch that play again and you can see that he was hit above the rib protection and below the arm....hurts just to watch it...

but Dobbs is one tough dude, that's fo sho

Naaa.....probably got the wind knocked out of him. I would have rather seen him lower his shoulder and run over the guy. If I remember correctly he did that last year against SC and drug about 3 guys into the endzone. He'll be fine....along with the offense.

I'm one of those guilty of speculating about this on the game thread last night. Part was because of seeing the hit, but also didn't he get stepped on immediately after? right side of his chest

Obviously hoping that no bones cracked.

It wasn't so much the initial impact, but the defender came off of his feet and drove his helmet into the same spot on the right side of his rib cage when they hit the ground. That almost looked worse

Isn't a defender launching and leading with the helmet a targeting penalty?

The defender did not leave his feet, nor did he lead with his helmet. He drove hips and stuck his shoulder dead center mass. It was absolutely textbook.

If that hit was illegal, the world has become so wussified that football should just be banned or colleges can play flag.

I saw this as well he made it over to the sideline and then collapsed. A timeout was taken and by the end of it he was up. Not sure if JJ played after that.

He did come back in. He came back in just a few plays later actually but he did look like he was feeling the effects.

Dobbs looked fine in his post game interview. Says he is fine and just got the wind knocked out of him.

The defender's helmet hit Dobbs first, and he left his feet after contact to drive Dobbs into the ground and prevent progress. Probably the only way the tackle could be done, but same thing with JRM's. I don't think this was actually illegal, but it was ruthless.

Dobbs was not a defenseless player though...

Definitely led with the helmet, arguing the legality of the hit and whether or not the game is now wussified because of the rules are different points all together.

Saw #15 lay down a hard block early in the game and then hit the ground. I don't think anything was mentioned on air but I saw a tweet that said he may have been injured. Any word?

I was at the game and remember him being in at WR in the third and possibly fourth quarters, so I think he's just fine.

Appy State did not stack the box. Line play except for Wiesman was very poor.

Truth. They were actually playing standard defense for the most part and I never saw them stacking the box consistently at all. Which is a bit worrisome that they were able to jailbreak through a bunch.

There was no helmet to helmet contact. That is what makes this different form JRM hit. The head always leads because it is positioned superior to the shoulders. Unless we figure out how to reposition the head somewhere different on the human body then that's the way it will be. It's all about head position and weather it makes contact with the ball carriers helmet. You can't spear with the head down but as long as there is no helmet to helmet contact it won't get called.

I'm ready to see. Dobbs isn't that good.

Your about sorry! That kid doesn't do anything but represent this school better than anyone has! He carried us to victory on his back against Georgia and the whole 2nd half of the season! Grow a set of balls and get over yourself you lil desktop clown! People like you make this fanbase look pathetic at times!
