Are you suggesting that not playing UNC is in the long term best interest of UT football? Explain why.

So do we already have a contract with Buffalo? If so someone is getting a buyout or two teams are getting their azz whipped in the same weekend. Just play it as a double header.

I'm being sarcastic for the inept but nothing would surprise me with Hamilton anymore, I don't know how the man manages to tie his shoes.

I would like to play them but I'll play Devil's advocate here.

I think we could argue that with the talent level we will be on the cusp of a bowl game. If we play UNC we should win but it isn't a creampuff game and at some point in that stretch of games attrition is likely going to set in. An easy win makes a bowl game more of a certainty and allows you to rest players if you need to. The bowl practices allow you to improve as a team and work with early entries to make them understand what they need to improve on to make an impact.

This must have been in the Blog section or maybe just on some of the comments. I have searched the AJC site for North Carolina and Tarheels. I have found articles, but nothing on this. I would say it is just probably speculation from certain posters on the blog.

I hope NC forces us to play too. Win, lose, or draw, Tennessee should be scared of nobody, nowhere, any time.
This buyout combined with the PR Taurus excretion stunt of Kiffin to play us just makes Tennessee look like Austin Peabody, North Arizona University, or some little community college out in the east California desert. We're an SEC team, does Hamilton or DD understand that? I'm more than slightly ticked off about this. So NC, force the issue. Of course I hope we beat them. This is UT not La. Tech!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is completely untrue. UNC cannot legally force us to play them. You can't force someone to fullfill the kind of contract where there is a service involved (a non sale of goods contract). If there is not a buyout included, then they can sue us for breach based on their expected losses. But they cannot force us to perform under the contract.

Comparing UT and UNC with Bama and Penn State looks very odd.

UT no longer has a respectable football program and UNC never had one. Bama and PSU are in a league well beyond our reach for the next decade.

The program has been officially derailed. Thanks Mike.

Uhh, it really does compare considering when the Bama-PSU series was postponed, both programs were struggling. Nice try though

Those are the only options. The NCAA has not certified the 2011 schedule for either team, and they can only force you to forfeit games on a certified schedule. UNC will not be on the schedule we have certified next spring.
