Rumor That UNC Will Force Vols

I hate all this "we play anybody anywhere" crap and people saying we are ducking NC. Alabama dropped Penn St from their schedule when Saban took over. Lol at all the people saying they don't want to play easy wins like Alabama and Florida. Ok, it hasn't been successful for them has it.

does anybody remember back in 03 04 when bama canceled a two game series with Penn State because they stunk and had probation? Or did i dream that?

how?

I don't see the sports media all over this like "Tennessee turns down USC"...I doubt most people even know about it (or that UT was even playing UNC in 2011)

Stupid... if we didn't have unilateral authority to implement the buyout.

Cowardly... for having backed out of the game so late and from weak program explanation.

When you say most people, I'm assuming that's the same most who don't know UT has a new coach, right?

I believe that was rescheduled and is going to be played this year. Same thing we are asking UNC to do

UNC and PSU aren't comparable programs though. PSU have actually won in football and have tradition. UNC, not so much...

thanks man. Been out of the country for this non issue. If it worked for a team that won a NC a few years later, I am all for it. So who cares if we postpone the series?

I don't remember the exact years of the original series but PSU was 3-9 in 2003 and 4-7 in 2004.

Also, Bama didn't cancel those games, they moved them. They will play Penn State this year. If Hamilton had rescheduled the UNC series to a later set of years instead of canceling it, we probably wouldn't be hearing all of this noise.

so what if this senario happens, lets say we are much more improved next year and lets say we lose 2 games next year one of them is NC, then comes all of the threads of why did we keep them on the schedule, why didn't we go threw with taking them off bla bla bla. I think it is a good idea, we have one of the toughest schedules next year in the country if not the toughest so why not lighten it up some. IMO

but Bama skated a game because they wanted to rebuild and get better. Then they did and are playing the series now. Both programs are better now and nobody cares about the postponed game.

Yes. We have a contract to either play the game or pay the buyout. We have elected to pay the buyout.

Just like a fired coach, they can't decline the buyout and stay as coach.

I guess it depends what the contract says. I'm not familiar. But it appears that both sides would have to approve the buyout.
