Rumor that Iowa will be starting the backup QB CJ Beathard in place of Rudock...

The Vol's record against backup Qb's in the last 8-10 years is far from stellar....but of course that could also be said about Tennessee football as a whole.
Go Vol's

Yeah, we ain't been too good against the starters in that period either.

I think that is the hangup Ferentz has for not playing Beathard ahead of Rudock.

CJB is a higher risk, higher reward type of QB. I suspect he doesn't provide consistent accuracy in practice and that is what keeps him mired behind Rudock in Ferentz mind.

The problem is, this Iowa team could have been 7-5 with that schedule with most any starting QB from a power 5 conference program.

What Iowa needed was a difference maker under center. Something Rudock is not and CJB has shown to have excellent potential.

There have been so many under thrown receivers (even on completed deep balls by Rudock) that it has been very hard to watch.

A few well respected folks have gone so far as to say that CJB has the strongest arm of any QB to play at Iowa. That says a lot.

Bottom line is; It was well worth the risk to hang your hat on CJB instead of Rudock but Ferentz is too stubborn to go against his original decision. His stubbornness has hurt Iowa in the past and has put our fanbase in a very unforgiving spot now
There is something eerily familiar about certain aspects of this story.

Sounds like Ferentz is just trying to elevate play at the QB position by using the old open competition strategy, and our defense is due against all receivers named Cooper . I expect we will see the QB who started all season and has the game experience .

CJ is the better QB of the two. Ferentz is that loyal guy and won't start the better talent. We've had CJ come in and just change the whole look of the offense. Marty T is not a reliable source. However, it's going to get pretty interesting to see IF he plays because if he doesn't he's out of Iowa City and not looking back.

Who will be UT's QB if Dobb's is injured in the bowl game? I know the answer, but just can't seem to see this scenario playing out......
Could Peterman possibly come in play well enough for the Vol's to win?
I didn't think so either.
Go Vol's

LOL. Don't fall for it, he just wants to know the answer without researching it himself. I thought about doing the same thing but using the "sissified nancy's" and "ignorant fear" was a very nice touch. Well played sir.

Wow. That's a ton of backups. We should be terrified of a backup QB :eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:

And I am the clueless one? The only clueless ones are those of you who act like babies about a backup QB.

Facing a backup QB has not been one of the Vol's strong suit for the last 15 years
The O'l dreaded 2nd team QB fear of the Vol's can't end soon enough

You asked which backup QB's have beaten us. You didn't ask to name you 25. And those are ones that took 3 seconds to come up with. I'm sure if any of us felt like researching it we might find more. But since you asked the question then feel free to look for yourself.

Don't need to research it. Its absurd and pathetic the way some fans think just because a handful of backup QBs have had success against us, that the mere mention of a backup QB invokes fear of a loss.
