And this takes away one card from the deck for the Dems. This is one less punching bag the Dems had going for them. Now Bush and Cheney will take more of the flak.

Anyone with guesses on who is next? Just replace him with another neocon?

This was a smart move and one I'm sure Bush didn't want. He's been proclaiming this would not happen and Rummy would be there to the end. But he couldn't go into a new Congress with this as a distraction. Cheney and Bush can deny appearances before Congress but Rumsfeld couldn't hide. Take him out and there is less friction.

So BUsh basically came out and said he lied about telling reporters Rumsfeld would be with him until the end of his term. He said he answered that way to get the reporters to move on to another question. Moral - this was planned for some time and not because of the election....so say he.

does it matter? the Dems haven't even taken over Congress yet and already they're gathering like sharks to a feeding frenzy.

but, the next person is likely John Bolton. The Dems are terrified of him. Which is a shame, since their "return to Constitutional Government" platform should include someone who doesn't kiss the UN's rear end. That's not going to happen and Bush will be forced to appoint some turd like Joe Wilson to represent the US at the UN.
