He is the gold standard for S&C coaches and apparently Texas went after him before Wylie but wasn't able to pull him away from LSU. Maybe the East Tenn connection will make the difference for us.

From a poster on another site: "I am from Springfield, Tennessee. I went to school with Tommy Moffitt (S & C) at LSU. I know he would be very interested in coming home. He actually was hoping for the chance when Wylie was hired. He is excellent. His heart bleeds orange, just like the rest of us. He grew up a Big Orange fan."

I know he is well respected but what else do we know? What have players thought, philosophy, etc?

I would imagine that he is very similar in philosophy to Johnny Long.

This is not a knock on you as you seem to be good people. I am simply quoting your comment.

CDD ain't Kiffin. Kiffin couldn't hold CDD's jock strap. CDD has done everythinghe needed to due so far without having to be an idiot in public. Even ESPN is talking up CDD now and how lucky we are to have him.

I don't know if CDD will pull this guy but I don't take anything from Kiffin being told no. Da Rick and Stone told Kiffin no to.

Coach moffit was on UTs staff in the early 90's. He is Billy Berons brother in law. Billy was on the d- line with Duff, Burton, Steve White and Jonathan Brown. Good Stuff! GBO!!!

Yeah, but that was different. Kiffin wasn't an SEC guy, and maybe that was a factor. I'd say the attractiveness of UT S&C coach position is much different with this staff in place. Add to that the new facility slated to be built.....

He is as good as it gets at that position, btw. Would be a HUGE hire if they can pull him. When it comes down to it, though, there are all kinds of factors that go in. Just hope LSU doesn't blow us away with a financial package and the lure of coming back to east TN gets him.

True, and I considered that. Just thought it was worth noting. I would not have wanted to work for that prick either.
