It's likely Pearl switches to the backup 3 and Maymon will be the backup 4.

Being a 4 on this team is like being a point guard. We need to be able to run the offense through the 4 spot. I've heard that he is very capable; we shall see.

Don't know why people still hating on Pearl. His D has been SOLID thus far. His O is bad at best - but definitely a good defensive bench player. Better utility player than say Swiper.

This. Complain all you want about Mcbee and Woolridge. Pearl has been one of our best defenders this year. I believe he took 2 or 3 charges against Nova.

not so sure he'll get his first action against pitt. i think bruce will want to try out a new lineup against a lower level opponent first

Before the season started, Bruce had a presser in which, among other things, he had an animated take on Maymon, saying "He'll take your head off if you don't play him." or something to that effect. I think he already has a handle on whether Jeronne is up to the test.

Anyone seen Maymon play and willing to give us an idea of what we should expect from him?

I tried to pay special attention to his game at the scrimmages. To me, it seems like he has really good size, a quick first step, and decent handles. He didn't play very many minutes, but his game was getting to the basket. I don't think I ever saw him take a jumper. The only criticism I can think of is that he didn't seem to be very explosive despite his quick first step. Again, these are observations from no more than 20 minutes of playing time (if that).

Lookin forward to seeing him play. Could be a great piece to the puzzle this year.

I am anxious to see how the team plays at Pitt. Cant wait.

Did he look like he had a high basketball IQ? Pass, play lanes etc....T Harris is an example.

It will definitely be interesting to see. I think we matchup pretty well with Pitt. So there is not terribly glaring need to put Maymon in for matchup reasons. I think it comes down to whether he is better at this point than Woolridge and Pearl despite the lack of game experience.

JP's first game was a big one vs. WKU in Nashville.

His second was a major coming-out party vs. Xavier in Cincinnati.

These guys practice with the team even when they're not eligible.

I think Maymon will be able to step right in and contribute if given the chance.
