Ruby Whitehorn dismissed from the team!

It's clear she won't be on the team. I would like to see the University help her instead of making her leave immediately. I believe that would be a better story than one of abandonment.
Totally agree but Ruby also may choose a different path. Maybe she goes back home and starts looking for a different school via the portal. If she avoids future issues, this situation is one she can definitely come back from.

Here is a local article about the dismissal with a couple of quotes from Kim. She basically says that the standards for LV basketball are important and have clearly been broken. She said she loves Ruby but has to think about the team. She knows it will help the team in 4 years (recruiting?) but is not sure how it will play out with the team this year.

I’m curious about what is meant by “how it will play out with recruiting this year.” Kim implies the Ruby situation will hurt the remainder of this year’s recruiting or team cohesion or both? We have two big time commits for next season, so the Ruby situation must not have influenced their decisions.

She did not say this unless you saw another quote. She said she knows it was "the right choice for the team 4 or 5 years from now" . I assumed she was referral to recruiting, so I put (recruiting?) to indicate that.

Where did you read that quote about recruiting? It don't see it in Cora's article.

I just didn’t say it right! I meant Kim is building a championship team and longevity at that competitive level. I can see how dismissing Ruby will positively impact this year’s team as well as recruiting. In a presser about Ruby’s first offense, Kim said something about the impact of Ruby’s behavior on recruiting.

She'll have to finish out the semester academically to be eligible to transfer anyway. Under NCAA rules, her scholarship will be honored through the end of the spring semester.

Very surprised by this. I have to assume that there are things present elsewhere in the story that the public doesn't know about, because the current situation is not a dealbreaker unless the previous arrest wasn't the first time she ran afowl of team rules.

That said, you don't want to be the only student-athlete at UT to be arrested or cited twice in the last year.

Changed the thread title again...

Good riddance Ruby. Good job on Kim making the right decision
While I can understand you saying good job on Kim making the right decision.your good riddance quote shows your spirit is lacking of caring. A man once said whoever is free of sin let him cast a stone so I wouldn’t cast one but you shouldn’t either. Let’s hope she learns from this but also let us as a fan base pray for her as we all have needed prayers for ourselves at some point in our lives.

Q: How has this dismissal effected the team?

CKC: We have four practices to get ready for NC ST and that is what we are focusing on.

Hell yeah!! Eyes on the prize at all times. CKC is a "no drama", "get er done" coach and that translates to a "no drama," "get er done" team.

I do worry about the distraction that happens when a teammate is lost. Hopefully the focus approach used will be effective.

Some of you owe @Coach Jumper an apology... He was right on the mark with his assessment of the situation...
Girl no a clock strikes 12 twice a day jumper spreads to many lies as if they are “in the know” with the program to deserve an “apology” . Let’s just say we did and don’t .
