Why don’t you share with us what her teammates believe should go down!simple,,,a player that was in a legal trouble and on probation for said trouble, with both the coach and the law, was out at 430 in the morning with pot in the car...And if you have ever been around the stuff, you KNOW it is near bc it smells like a skunk.
I am sorry folks, this is a "free Carl Lee-Fry Carl Lee" moment and I am decidedly not giving a free pass to Ruby.
BC I KNOW what it will do to the teammates.
further if the coach waits for the law or the AD to exact a decision it will show that the coach can't...I would urge Kim to make this decision, yay or nay, before her hand is forced by an outside influence bc at this point fully two days later, parents/players/recruits are going from "what will she do?" to "Is she going to do?"
She has to take a stance and "no stance" is worse than the wrong one
I realize most of you posters are parents and not coaches so I understand your letting emotions dictate your suggestions,,,"what if it were my kid".
But we coaches have t o consider all of our kids... not just one
we have a team now, with or without Ruby, more athletic and deeper than last year and that team was in the S16...why would you jeopardize that
I have been on here for years and I know how things go,,,the same people who are saying give ruby another chance will be calling for Kim's firing if it happens again
I'm sure she got individual opinions from the team. Why don’t you share with us what her teammates believe should go down!
Why the heck should Coach jump out in front if she can be insulated by higher admin making a declaration at the CONCLUSION of the fact finding?
Werecm they convinced Ruby got a fair shake the first go round? I don ‘t pretend to know, but never made sense the other party was NOT charged with anything for the unlawful possession of the phone and passport. Bet Donde has more facts than the general public on both instances.
Guess coach could let team leadership make the call! Or not!
Nope Donde and her boss are in front, she is in the middle. She may not YET know if she has options.I'm sure she got individual opinions from the team.
But in the end, its more about what is/was said between Ruby and Coach KIM
re jump out in front,,,as a coach, you ARE the front.
Yeah i thot I read that somewhere, got Ruby confused with another player. My mistake, will check sources better. My apologies Mechelle. See Ruby made a mistake too, own it and move on.Poor Ruby, as if she didn't have enough trouble everyone in this thread keeps trying to kill off her mom!!
Hopefully it will all work out for Ruby with the charge, and her mom will live to be 100.
If anything it will have a positive effect on the team. The team wants a coach that has their back when they screw up. She hasn’t done anything yet that she can’t come back from but she may be running out of chances.
Non-sensical. If each and every young lady on the team transgressed the law (or put themselves in negative situations), and the coach had all their backs, would we say then that this would cause an exponentially greater positive effect on the team?
Come on, people. The Ruby issues are a major NEGATIVE. Kim does not need to be dealing with this crap when you are bringing the program back to greatness.
Speculating and commenting, with or without facts, is pretty much the entire purpose of message boards like this one. Take away all the guessing and commenting and there would be, well, no reason for a message board. How about we let it play out and see before commenting. Dang is this really a hard concept?
…specifically: following a loss.Speculating and commenting, with or without facts, is pretty much the entire purpose of message boards like this one. Take away all the guessing and commenting and there would be, well, no reason for a message board.
Ya just gotta either understand that or maybe avoid message boards altogether during times when a player, team or coach is going through a rough patch.
It is what is is.
Save the lecture about what the board is about. I completely understand that, it's the ones that repeatedly say the same thing over and over. We get it, you want her gone. You shouldn't have to say it more than once to get your point across. Saying it over and over again won't change the outcome. So say your peace, THEN let it play out is what I was saying.Speculating and commenting, with or without facts, is pretty much the entire purpose of message boards like this one. LVOCD is definitely NOT in the “want her gone” camp!Save the lecture about what the board is about. I completely understand that, it's the ones that repeatedly say the same thing over and over. It was a direct reply. It read that way to me also. A “they” or “some” would have helped if you werent addressing @lvocdThat wasn't an accusation. Go read it again.
I just clarified it... So, sorry not sorry! It was a direct reply. It read that way to me also. A “they” or “some” would have helped if you werent addressing @lvocd
Black people get pulled over for no reason all the time…obviously I wasn’t there and don’t know all of the facts, but to assume her car smelled like weed because they need a reason to search her is, well, laughable.Unless the weed was visible, the officer smelled weed (meaning she was smoking while driving), or Ruby was obviously impaired enough to get her out of the car and pat her down, I don’t think they could have searched the car.
Your last paragraph is the heart of the matter. There have to have been consequences and requirements for her to return to the team and to avoid the felony charges. She decided to be out at 4:30 in the morning,to drive erratically endangering others and to have weed in her possession. I’m very surprised some are minimizing this as just a poor college student caught up in unfair weed laws. After what had already happened, doing this is a major red flag for Ruby. Now both the university and the coaches have to do what’s best for her future. It doesn’t feel like letting her skate, esp while somehow making her the victim of two unfair prosecutions, is it at all.
