Ruby Arrested……

Preliminary hearings rarely go on the first, second, or even third setting.

I don’t expect a plea deal, I expect the charge to be dismissed. Not about athlete privilege, about getting the complete story from witnesses other than the alleged victim. She shouldn’t have reacted the way she did, but there’s more information that is relevant to the case than what was in the initial police report.

Do you believe there will be any repercussion for the athlete ? I know we need all the facts but we’ve seen other athletes suspended from all team activities until getting further information. Some people comparing it to Watkins at SC.

Just curious. I think all facts need to come to light but regardless some actions need to be taken. You represent the team, the university and your brand.

I am glad all parties involved were safe and hope they learn from it!

Right. We can nitpick the she said/she said but bottom line it was an unseemly and troublesome public incident where bad judgement and lack of self control on Ruby’s part required law enforcement intervention. That can’t happen as Ruby is held to a higher standard as an LV.

I’m confident the program will handle it correctly and in the way that will help Ruby grow and learn. It’s just unfortunate for her to go into the season with that hanging over her head. Hopefully it keeps her on the straight and narrow.

I’m sure she will have some extra conditioning, but no.

I doubt it. The part about the Watkins thing that was so icky is the other girl was a high schooler. Not a good look for Ruby for sure. I’m sure she’ll pay for it in practice someone but I’d expect her to play. Especially if the incident was off campus.

one thing is for sure there are two sides to this story (and every story) and neither side has been fully told here. my point is that it's not worth your time to make assumptions about ruby or the other person. we don't know the details...and, if you think the Knox Police Department is not capable of making mistakes in an investigation then you should read more news.

If I was on the jury, you might. I wouldn't find someone guilty for recovering their stolen property, especially if there are no injuries from the "assault".
Does lack of BATTERY indicate that? My Perry Mason and Matlock education wants to know.

How and where did the other party take possession of Ruby’s property?

so not trying to start a fire im not familiar with the situation but whats so different about this and when Ashley watkins got crucified on the board for her case and brought back to the team ?

Yes, I mean how different are two completely unrelated legal cases involving different people, different charges, and different factual circumstances. Clearly not trying to start a fire at all.....

here you go. I literally am asking a valid question and you getting defensive . I wasn't even speaking to you so if you cannot answer then get the hell on and ignore it weirdo .

Of course they have similarities, though importantly Ruby’s case seems not as physically violent toward each other, just toward the property. Also importantly, no minor appears to be involved.. And of course there’s rampant homerism going on in stretching to defend one and condemn the other.

Both are cases where overwrought young emotions got dangerously and publicly out of hand and ended up embarrassing a high profile athlete. Both will likely end in a comprise that helps all parties learn, grow, and put it behind them.

thank you for the mature response and clarity unlike some morons on here just looking to argue.

It was a weird question. What does Watkins have to do with this situation? I didn't even recall it being discussed and I have zero interest in looking it up either.

Just wondering here, not assuming. Did this event—and the Watkins problem—take place after NIL led certain young folks to feel mighty important and entitled, rather than reflective and moderate? See: Laws of Unintended Consequences

Many D1 athletes have felt important and entitled since time immemorial. Way before NIL.

Glad you touched on the orange tinted glasses.
