Ruby Arrested……

You're faith in the efficiency of the police to retrieve your essential personal items from thieves is adorable.

They would file a report. Maybe get a search warrant in two weeks. Not find crap. Let you work it out in civil court. I've literally seen this happen.
Maybe so, but STILL... It makes zero sense to resort to extremes over a damn phone or ID. Zero. None.

Also, lots of times people have fights and get over them in a day or two. The "victim" may have given it back to her in a couple of hours. Or the next day. Who knows?

Hate it for Ruby that she is somewhere wondering if her career as a Lady Vol is over because of a phone and an ID.

It looks like both parties acted irresponsibly and Lady Vols Basketball comes out of it with a black eye.
Nah. If this is a one-off event, it will be forgotten pretty quickly. College football is ramping up and this story will fall out of the news cycle very fast.

I would bet this case gets settled without going to court, where Ruby pleads to a lesser charge, does community service and takes an anger management course and probably gets suspended for a few early season games. Not ideal by any stretch but let's not make more of this situation than it really is.

According to the report, Ruby was leaving and the girl came outside and started a fight with her, stole her phone and ID and ran back into the house and locked the doors. Why isn’t Ruby the victim? Is it because she broke the door to get her property back that was stolen from her?
So the other girl can be charged with theft (if the evidence supports that) and Ruby has be charged with Breaking & Entering, Property Damage, ect. Which is pretty much known by all parties. It doesn't matter why Ruby broke the law, only that She did. You call the Cops, and let them handle it, you don't bust through doors and damage property.

AJ wasn't "proven innocent." They dropped the charges because they did not believe they could secure a conviction. Those are very different things.
He had a trial . Does “acquitted“ or “not guilty” equate to proven innocent? Not a lawyer, semantics….

Well no. It does not.

Definitely not a lawyer. Neither am I. But “proven innocent” is not a phrase in our legal system.

The judge’s charge to the jury is to decide one of two options: Guilty or Not Guilty. Innocent, is not an option.

SmallVol,it’s wonderful to get your input once again. I have greatly missed seeing your knowledgeable posts. I know you stopped posting as much because of all the arguing and mudslinging oh the board, but your input has always been appreciated. Sending you hugs and prayers for you and your family!

Do college students commonly carry their passports with them these days? As opposed to a student ID card?
Probably depends on if she had been traveling and has a real ID. Passport is acceptable to the gov in lieu of a real ID, so I know I have been carrying mine even though I know that isnt ideal.

Handle it the right way, and it doesn’t make the news and put Tennessee in the spotlight. Simple rule as a player, don’t embarrass the University.

Y'all way to easy and forgiving. If she was a Gator or Wildcat, then it would be kick her off the team or the laughing emoji.

I have no sympathy for people who put themselves in this spot
But she is one of ours. You can’t only care about them when times are good. Don’t turn your back on her now.

Such a nothing story. The only consistent detail between their two stories is that the victim stole her phone. The victim was able to record footage from within the home but was confused about which phone she grabbed outside? Right. No injuries reported or visually noticed for either party. Congrats to the KPD for getting this on the global tabloids and the front page of ESPN though.

If I am reading correctly, how could the police not arrest the other party if she in fact took Ruby’s property and went into her residence? It SEEMS that is an agreed upon fact set.

Another world class better wait for a more complete fact set before putting one’s own rational thought processes and integrity on the line situation. Some have seriously put their’s on that line. Can’t put those bullets back in the gun either.

The cops can't simply take Ruby's word for what happened. Investigations reveal evidence. The break-in was clear evidence; hence the arrest.

Very interesting point. And as we well know, smart lawyers are able to get a lot of guilty defendants a "Not Guilty" verdict.

chat, is this true?

Shows how slow the US Sports news is during the summer for them to be reporting on off-season collegiate WBB in the UK.

UT Student ID cards are digital now, so they’re not valid for identification in the real world, only on campus.

A lot of people carry their Passport in today’s climate of aggressive immigration enforcement.
