Rubio Staying at UT!

Sab it seems that USC is not making the noise that some of us thought after the Kiffin hire. Do you think this may have anything to do with the NCAA investigation or do you think it has more to do with them trying to make a big bang on NSD like he did last year with us ?

Kiffin is trying to fill the shoes of a modern day coaching legend at one of if not the biggest national stage of college football.....I believe Pete Carroll has won more games and B.C.S. bowls this last decade than any other head coach and 2 National Championships....KIFFIN IS A MAJOR STEP DOWN.....most U.S.C. fans out here are very very disappointed in the hire.:eek:lol::dance2:

I'm getting tired of cynical, pessimistic posters here.

Look, the dude had an interview.
I love where I work right now, but if some other business called me up for an interview and a raise, I'd check it out, no doubt about it.

But Rubio STAYED. Why is everyone condemning him for interviewing? Don't be so frekin' ridiculous.

He's a great asset to UT, and we should be glad he stayed, instead of crucifying him for interviewing. It's like NCAA McCarthyism.

This is such a non-issue.

I am right on with you dude.....the people on here hating a man for looking at progressing and moving ahead in life obviously don't understand the concept of becoming successful....if a man can move up and make more money why hate on him....it is so stupid!

Not changing the subject
ESPNU is showing the replay of Byrnes and St. Aqunias and Corey Miller is going to be a freak and speaking of freak ,Tom Lugenbill compares him to former Gator Jevon Kearse.

So if John Wall's head called you for an interview you would take it?

Most everyone is making a big deal over this. He's not a recruiter, and is not allowed to do so by the NCAA. He is not much more than a paper shuffler and a coffee maker. I would be more upset if Kiffin had invteviewed an equipment department employee!

I think the reason folks are upset is he had a nice visit this weekend with a 5 star recruit that USC is trying to steal. The timing of his interview was poor. He may not realize K was using him and I am willing to bet if Dooley fired him that offer would not be there anymore.

I would be almost certain X tried everything he could to get this guy, he has serious ties to Florida. If a company called you 2 days before a major deadline at your current company and said, hey we will fly you out here to hear us out and possibly pay you more or offer you a better position, YOU WOULD DO IT, Rubio STAYED, he obviously thinks UT is the better "Company".

Rival school system tried to hire me away 5 days before school started @10% pay increase ,I said no because of my loyality..
Not everyone in this world is a hired gun.

prob didn't want to leave his close friends and family in FLA by going all the out to LA.....it always seemed like he loved being at TN but you can never judge a book by its cover..so I guess he really does love the Orange!

The REALLY good news is, with Orgeron and CLK's staff known for their agressive successful recruiting, for them to want Rubio must mean he's ultra special. Super glad this fellow is still a Vol!

I hope everyone is ready to not be so quick to bash our coaches and players now.

People on here were underestimating the effect Rubios possible departure would have on recruits...This is big time news that he's staying.

Please expand on this. It is good to have some continuity in administration,, how is this big time news? He is an intern, even if he is a good one,, he is an intern. How is he better than Jim Bob Cooter? IF Jim Bob Cooter was an intern doing the same things? Also if you didn't guess I like saying Jim Bob Cooter - its fun.

The latter. Leopards dont change their spots. I'm cringing a little til everyone sends in the letters

Look, Im just saying that if you are an intelligent man, and during this climate of betrayal and hostility, you dont go interview at this time with the enemy. He might be a great guy, might be a great recruiter someday, but he wouldnt be working for me. He damn sure wouldnt be promoted like you are saying. He could of said that I'll do it thursday, he could of said I need a few days to think about it, but he didnt. But for you there is a brighter side, I do not control who is hired or fired at Tennessee.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. What we dont know is what the plan was. For all you know he went on a fact finding mission. I think this actually helps us. Further proves what character Kiffin is....and we had a guy say no that Kiffin wanted. Could have been the plan all along....we just dont know.

Not big time IMO nut he has contact with recruits including driving ambles this weekend. At least it's not a bad thing

I know after the SEC invesigation UT self imposed penalities and said Rubio would not be allowed to go on recruiting trips this year. Does that hold with the new staff too? I would assume so.

I've often thought that Rubio may be the recruiting guru "X" from Basilio page (The Edge).
