I wonder how many people that aren't UT fans realize there are mountains on the helmets? I'm not knocking the idea but just curious.

Probably not many outside of Tennessee fans. I still think it would be a nice tribute. I'm sure our media department would be sure to get the message out.

I think the idea of a tribute, if we're in the Music City Bowl, would be a nice touch. I think it would be lost if we play in NC at Belk Bowl. Aside from that, IMO, there would be better, more visible and more clearly understood tributes than to wear the smokey grey helmets. OP didn't specify the entire smokey grey uni's, but I'm assuming that was the intent as the grey helmets with white or orange uni's would be rather radonkulous looking.

Since it's a bowl game and now not nearly as good of one that we thought we'd get, I'm for it.

I wouldn't mind seeing the gray helmets with orange jerseys and white pants just to see what it would look like.

Just heard somebody on WNML suggest not only wearing the smokey grays but also auctioning off the game worn helmets and donate the money to relief efforts.

I'm all for that.

For those asking if others even know. You have to know UT would use as a PR move and would make sure Butch mentions why we are wearing the helmets.

Not sure if you are complaining but I'm sure what ever broadcasters at the game will be told to why we are wearing gray. It will be mentioned during the broadcast and probably during any highlight recaps on ESPN, etc.

And there would be nothing wrong with brining awareness to the relief efforts.

I agree, really a bad idea. But I guess we have to have another gimmick to inspire this team. Too bad we do not have the coaching to make that inspiration.
