I wonder if they'll try to stretch out Appenzeller and maybe someone else as the season goes along so as to have that 5th starter possibility after Arvidson (for the postseason). On one hand, you could do that with Appenzeller as a midweek starter, but on the other, he might be more valuable as a weekend bullpen arm. As a freshman, I'm sure he'll get better as the season goes along...so he'll likely be a better pitcher in May/June than in March.Don’t sleep on the depth that Appenzeller and Baiotto provide as well. I know Krenzel could likely step in as well.
Anyone able to access the articles from Eric Cain? Usually a pretty good tell of who the opening day lineup will be. Either starters all on one team or starting IF on one side and starting OF on the otherThey scrimmaged Friday, Sat, and today (Sunday). I think all were shortened and only went a few innings due to the weather.

Would think he’s probably in the DH spot to start the season when healthy. Lineup looks pretty set other than the Antigua/newstrom battle still going on. Will be interesting to see how much they want Brown to pitch and in what situationsI would add that Blake Grimmer apparently hasn’t participated in any scrimmages so far this Spring due to back soreness.
I think Grimmer would be a great DH but not sure when he’ll be healthy and they won’t rush him—especially during this cold weather. Defense isn’t his or Brown’s strong suit, but both would be serviceable in LF. Grimmer showed some skills on D at 3B on occasion as well. I think Brown‘s future is as a hitter but hear his fastball tops out at 99. Two way players like Brown, Hankins, and Tracey are valuable and will get their chances to prove their worth on the mound.Would think he’s probably in the DH spot to start the season when healthy. Agree. My guess is they’ll start by using brown on the mound in relief during midweeks just to get him some game action.
