Jordan played on some very average Bulls teams prior to Pippen's arrival and it still took a couple years for them to get to the Finals after that. Shaq and Kobe didn't seek one another out. At the tie Shaq went to LA, Kobe had just been drafted and no could have known for certain that he was going to turn out to be the star he became.

Like it or not, LeBron is the first superstar who, in his prime, has had to actively seek out the assistance of not just one, but two other superstars in an effort to win a title because he either couldn't do it himself. It's not like the Cavs had to get another elite player to win a title either. LeBron actually got them to the Finals even with that lousy supporting cast. They could have easily gotten enough good pieces around him actually win a title IMO. Instead, LeBron took the easy way out, which is why I'd rather not see him win a championship.

And Jordan didn't win a title with those very average teams. And that's my point they didn't have to seek anyone out because they had management that would get players around them and were in a city that players wanted to go to. Vareajo and Mo Willians as your best players outside of Lebron? Come on.

You make it sound as if the the Miami All-Stars were LeBron's only option. Could he not have chosen to try and lead another franchise, one with a competent front office and in a city that possessed the ability to draw decent supporting pieces, to a title?

All realistic options would have evoked the same feelings.

Chicago
New York
Hell, even New Jersey.

Not nearly to the same degree. He would have had good players around him in NY or Chicago for sure, but neither of those places would have involved 2 of the 3 best players in the league at that time playing on the same team.

Derek Rose did win the MVP.

True, but it was after LeBron went to Miami. Like I said, at the time, it was 2 of the top 3 players ending up on the same team. Whether or not that's still the case is a bit more debatable with the way Rose and Kevin Durant have played over the past couple of seasons.

How did this thread turn into another "Decision" debate?

I think it came about from myself and a couple others lamenting the fact that the Heat have basically just gotten a free pass to the finals, and somebody else wondering where all the LeBron hate was coming from.

I find it hard to believe that anyone who actually watches the NBA could possibly think that Wade is even remotely close to being in the Jordan stratosphere and also think that Pippen ( while a great player himself ) is even remotely close to LeBron James.

Both have to play GREAT for them to win it all, chances are slim that one can carry the other, their team as a whole just inst't good enough.

Not at all what I was trying to say.

Wade already won a title as clearly the best player on his own team, Lebron didn't even sniff the title and the one year they got swept by the Spurs, the east was absolutely horrid.

My comparison between Wade and MJ is that they have both been top dogs on a championship team. My comparison between Lebron and Pippen is that if Lebron wins a ring, they will both have been second fiddles for the championship.

Riose or not the Bulls weren't beating the Heat in a seven game series.

I don't think they were either, but the question now is whether anybody in the east can take Miami more than five games. I have a feeling the majority of series in the west will go seven games, the Heat may have more than a week off by the time the representative out of the west is determined.
