Buddy I've never had a root canal, I had a cavity filled last Wednesday(big one said the dentist) it has been bothering me since. I'm afraid I may end up with a root canal.

I was involved in a sporting incident which knocked out a couple of teeth....

Had the teeth repaired and because of the trauma I had to have two root canals. Its really not that bad at all, right afterwards I was not even hurting really. Its definitely nothing to stress over...more than usual.

Hope everything goes well! If you get any, enjoy the pain meds.

Already have some meds, the tooth is abscessed and has been killing me. I have to take some antibiotics to get rid of the infection before anything can be done and he gave me some pain killers.

I had a Root Canal a few months ago & couldn't tell the difference between it & a regular filling. Didn't feel a thing. It's not like it was 20-30 years ago.

Now my problem is that I need my Wisdom teeth out.....anyone know what that's like?

I've had my wisdom teeth cut out and never had a problem.

You go to sleep. You wake up. The teeth are gone. The anesthesia wears off. You take a few pain meds and for a day or two and your mouth is a little tender. You eat soup and Jello . . Then it's over. Not really that big a deal.

Yeah, I got my two front teeth knocked out in a fight when I was younger. They were baby teeth, but when I grew in my adult teeth, the nerve endings were dead. I forget why, but there was some reason they needed to be taken care of, so I got a root canal.

Really wasn't that bad, though.

Worst thing I've ever had at the doctor: When I was 9, I broke my big toe down the middle length-wise, which healed up. But I had a toenail that was ingrown at about 40 degrees. They had to remove most of the nail and straighten the rest out... The anesthetic shots were the worse. I got one on top of my foot, into the side of my big toe and one in between my toes. Most pain I've ever felt in my life, and I've broken a loooootttttt of bones.

Had the ingrown toenail thing, got the shots... that was BAD.

I had an emergency root canal without anesthesia after I broke my tooth off diving in the shallow end (yes a fair amount of alcohol was involved.) There are definitely worse things in life. Let me know how it goes with anesthesia...

I broke my big toe/ripped most of toenail off playing nerf basketball (the kind that hangs on a door) at my cousins house when I was 10 or 11 years old, worst pain I've ever had. I've had a brain tumor removed and had less pain than I did with the toe,

I kind of had a wisdom teeth horror story....I had four that had to be cut out. Had the procedure done and about 5 days later started having severe, severe, pain around the incisions... Long story short dry socket had set up in two of the sockets, because I had been spitting blood into a spit cup instead of swallowing it because my stomach was very upset....DO NOT SPIT OR SUCK THROUGH A STRAW....this can cause your blood clots to loosen and come out. This is definitely worse case scenario.

If you take care of yourself and follow all the instructions you get from your doc. you should be fine.

really depends on upper tooth or lower tooth. harder to numb lower, but profound anesthesia is key. also depending on tooth. if lower molar you usually have 4 canals. upper 3 canals and most teeth that arent molars ie front teeth or premolars only have one canal, so time is factor. if they dont clean out all canals then it can leave you with additional problems such as pain and infection. I usually refer to endodontist(root canal specialist) on all molar teeth. you will be fine. todays root canals were nothing like 10-15 years ago. technology allows to do quicker and more efficiently.

I think it's a premolar. The dentist said it was the number 12 tooth, upper left side.

Would a edodontist charge more? The dentist i went to yesterday quoted me a price of $1300.

yes it is premolar and easy one to do. i would let dentist do it for that price if he does them routinely. not a difficult one at all. the endodontist may charge more, but keep it in house if you can, because then dentist can restore it properly a week later or so with crown. although root canal specialist may charge a little more or less you are certain that your General takes your insurance. would hate for you to go to specialist and not be covered. you will be fine with # 12. in fact, it is probably easiest of all premolars. good luck!

I had my wisdom teeth removed August of 06 and though it seemed to go well, my mouth bothered me for a while afterward.(i was almost 37 that played a big part). You have to fast the night before, have somebody go with you so they can ride you home. Make sure you change your gauze, it will get bloody and gargle with salt water. My oral surgeon prescribed me percocet and I still have some left. You are asleep, so you really dont remember anything. If you are young, you should be fine.

I have a question. We have some family members in Montgomery, Alabama. One of their 4 year olds has a tooth. What does this mean? Should they call a Dentist? How far is the closest Dentist from Montgomery? Let me know if anyone has an answer.
