Roof Damage

Just to put closure on this and return me to my safe space, a guy came by today and fixed my problem. He was professional and local and was running his butt off doing jobs like mine. He looked over the rest of my roof and said I was good, and even didn't try to sell me a new roof.

I appreciate honest local people. I am really disappointed in the Farm Bureau for not having anyone to help. I would think that intervening in a roof leak would be in their best interest. Apparently they don't give a shat, either I file a claim or not. I'll remember that come renewal time.

Insurance companies aren't that generous anymore. After the last tornado blew through here, insurance companies decided that they were going to prorate roofs. I guessing they'll give me 10 cents on the dollar for a 9 year old roof.

It depends on the type of shingles you have along with the type of coverage. I had a storm hit my house back in June and it blew just a few shingles off, but there were numerous others that had been ripped loose from the roof and creased. Because I had a three tab shingle and not a true architectural shingle they were unable to replace them with like kind and quality. As a result, I ended up with a new roof.
Apparently the type of shingles I had were complete garbage and had been discontinued. Here's a picture of what the looked like as far as the style

Of course a small amount of damage may not even reach your deductible. I'd call my agent. In all fairness to them, there are roofing companies going around trying to get you to file a claim when roof really not that bad. I have had excellent care when it comes to my roof. If several houses in your area are damaged, that bodes well for you. Good luck.

If you're in the Knoxville area and need a roof I have a second generation guy that comes highly recommend by several people. Best price around.

He's doing my roof next Monday the 12th, weather permitting.

Glad you got your roof fixed. I hate dealing with insurance companies. They are a necessary evil though. I know ins cos get hosed by fraudsters frequently, but they in turn hose their good paying customers who really need their help sometimes. Anyway, glad you got fixed up. End Insurance Company Rant! :)
