Worst SEC hire was keeping Fulmer around after 2005.

There is an extremely long, and currently growing, list of coaches that were retained past their expiration date in the SEC. This thread concerns the initial hiring process, of which we became the Kings of Disaster with Kiffin.

Agreed. He set us back without getting us any level of success.

Hopefully hat will be as wrong about Dooley as he was/is about Bruce.
Also, Zook followed Spurrier, who dominated CFB at the time. Kiffin beat teams UT usually beats, with players he barely knew.

NFL experience.
SEC experience.
Louisiana recruiting pipeline?
He might get some good assts.
Good recruiter for Saban.
Not Cutcliffe.
I'm sure there are more pros.

We definitely are missing some star power ala Monte and Lane, but those guys never won anything important with their big talk and NFL experience. To have better results than Fulmer two years ago and then Kiff last year isn't going to be impossible, in fact, the bar is pretty low.

Just because Lane said he's the reason Crompton improved, doesn't make it so. Just because we could have won with that kick vs. Bama doesn't mean trying for some extra yards at the end wasn't a better idea. Think the Pac 10 is practicing their wildcat yet?

So is hat finally just a troll with this hire, or does he still harbor enough love for Pat Head to be considered a fan?

But going for Dooley is like going to Red Lobster and ordering a cheeseburger. Yeah, you can do it, but you're not going to be very satisfied, now are you?

You obviously have not eaten at Red Lobster lately. I would order the cheeseburger if I had to eat there.

Maybe Mike Hamilton is right. Everything us fans have wanted so far has turned into a complete disaster. Maybe we should give Dooley a chance.

If it is Dooley, what will the UT program look like in 5 years? I know it will be pure speculation but just curious as to your opinions.
