Here is some more information. Interesting hire if true. I will trust the Doolander though!

I like this quote!

Linemen need to be large, but eating the wrong type of foods to gain that body shape will slow you down and cause health problems. Ron McKeefery, strength coach for the University of South Florida football team, had his offensive linemen improve their diet to make them faster off the line and increase their mobility, according to Alan Dell at the "Herald-Tribune" website. Previously the players had a tendency to eat a lot of fried foods. Educating the players on diet was critical to making them better players. The starting offensive linemen lost over 40 pounds combined and more than 10 percent of body fat.

Another quote:

His finely tuned plan for strength and speed gains, while also working to prevent injuries, has helped USF compete at the highest level of college football without the benefit of recruiting classes filled with stars and prep hype.

Another quote:

Ron McKeefery is one of the nation’s premier collegiate strength and conditioning coaches. In addition to developing student athletes to reach their athletic potentials, Ron takes great pride in mentoring those interested in making a career out of the strength and conditioning profession. As the director of strength and conditioning at the University of South Florida, Ron implements one of the strongest strength and conditioning internship programs in the U.S. He has a long list of former interns who have gone on to lead some of the nation’s premier strength and conditioning programs at every level.

THE MORE I FIND THE BETTER IT SOUNDS!

According to some facebook stalkers on TOS, his wife's profile shows her new residence to be in Knoxville, TN.

They reportedly own land in the area.. :)

Hubbs is trying to deny/divert the info, but it looks like 53 maybe right on this one.

Agreed and looks like a good hire. Trained Oregon's S & C coach.... as referenced on his FB. Congrats to Former Intern Art Tolhurst. Art is an Graduate Assistant Strength Coach at the University of Oregon, who will be playing in the National Championship Game today

Dude looks pretty legit to me. If the Army thinks hes good enough to train the best of the best then hes more than qualified to train this football team.

He has connections to Tommy Moffitt and members of his staff. Moffitt could have certainly pointed Dooley that way.

Also, a current member of the UT Athletic Training Staff worked with McKeefery at USF.

Hubbs now says that they believe he is the guy, but are trying to confirm that he has been hired.

Not knocking the guy there have certainly been some decently impressive results coming out of USF and I am a results kind of guy so if he comes in and our guys learn to really compete I am bought in to him.

However, WHY IS IT SO DANG HARD FOR Tennessee TO LAND A TOP NAME COACH? What has happened to our program that we are invading the 2nd and 3rd tier Big East conference teams to find a coach that will be around our players more then anyone else on the staff? Does this hire really say we think we can compete with UF, AL, LSU, SC East, and even Arkansas now? I am just in shock as to where our program has ended up in just 5 years! Did we get the SMU death penalty and I just missed that post?

I completely believe in Dooley and his staff though do not get me wrong, love what he is doing and the pedigree these guys are bringing. Just tired of watching UT be the stepping stone SEC school.

I wouldn't know a top name S&C coach (other than Moffitt) if he slapped me with a dumbell. Apparently this guy has interns that have their own programs all over the country...including Oregon.

I am curious to why you think this guy is not top notch. He is highly regarded in the profession as one of the best. But hey... we all have our opinions so I agree to disagree. Anyways..... GO VOLS!

I retract said previous statement now that it appears official...

Welcome to Knoxvegas Coach! Good luck and I wish you the best, I hope you continue to grow and the success will prove all the doubters (myself included) wrong!

So I guess you were against the Wylie hire. Or any S&C coach we have hired.

I liked this

the success of his strength and conditioning program is best exemplified by the fact that South Florida was 10-0 in overtime during his tenure and also outscored opponents by a three-to-one margin in the fourth quarter during his 11 seasons.

Regarded by who? Who are your sources that speak so highly of him? Because someone on here thinks maybe Coach Moffit suggested him? Why would someone whose success will be graded against wins against Tennessee really point us in a direction of the next coming? Because he is friends with Dooley? Sorry his Checks still say LSU so doesn't mean I take his word on anything.

Like I said I believe in CDD and his "Plan" my questions was more directed at why our talent level at particularly the S&C position is a stepping stone spot. Especially with the new facilities. I mean isn't this 5 coaches now in 3 years or something?
