Roman Tubner gone too

Ever wonder why two long time SEC assistants would do such a thing at the possible risk of their own careers? And how does one of the rebels get hired by another program immediately? You would think they would be poison to any head coach now. And not just the two coaches, but literally the whole team gone.

They just has to be plenty of blame to go around. Don’t think 12 other people were all wrong and three or four all right in this situation.
Kim would hire the devil if she thought he could get her Edwards

If you read my book I stated she did not handle the situation and she better have learned from it. As this wasn't as obvious as the nose on our face. It was destroyed from within and she didn't know how to head it off. Look I only have a problem with her subbing, her offense and defense have been proven when run properly even with less athletic players. But her management of mutiny she blew it and cost her success and her whole team.
I honestly thinks she is too bull headed to listen. You've said it yourself the team was different, therefore you need to adjust. She could have kept aspects of her system but adopted it to fit what your players do well. Instead is was a bunch of 3 point shooting from a below average shooting team. A team that was probably fit to run a more conservative half court defense or press less.

I think this is what the coaches and players were telling her and she dismissed them and then complained that she was being undermined.

I don't think she thought it would blowup in her face this way. Now it's time for self reflection. This season may end up being a blessing in disguise if she can learn from it. However the margin for error is slim for her and she may have put herself in a position she can't recover from. Recruiting out of the portal maybe a little harder. These girls talk and a lot have played together, I don't think she is going to get a glowing recommendation from any leaving player.

Are you advocating for a smaller staff next season or simply being nostalgic of an earlier era in WBB when every team had smaller staffs?

Harkening back to the era when one coach was enough...and washed the uniforms and drove the minibus (or wagon).

That’s what I don’t understand about Danny keeping Kim. Everyone said we needed to keep the incoming recruits, but Edwards is leaving. So why keep Kim? Unreal
Because he’d have to admit he picked the wrong person and it sometimes takes a lot to admit you made a mistake when you backed the person hard😭

Exactly. That is carrying conspiracy to the nth degree. They could leave- and Gabe obviously could do so easily at what looks like a much better situation, even a lateral move would be upward comparing UT to LSU. This sounds like an attempted cover up of incompetence spearheaded by Dim aficionados.

It makes no sense. I don’t know the caliber of person Gabe or Roman is, but to do that would be extremely stupid. They aren’t stupid. What makes anyone think they would risk their careers and livelihoods to undercut Kim? What would they gain? It is too simple to just leave.

And spreading these types of rumors is horrible. These men’s reputations and livelihoods are being put at risk. Think about if it was you at your job and someone began spreading unsubstantiated rumors. How would it feel? How would it affect YOU?
As always, there's probably a lot more nuance and gray areas. As I understand it, assistants are often the bridge between players and the head coach, especially in tough moments when the head coach is being hard on players, and the players need someone to go to. You heard that a lot with Pat and Holly (sort of a good cop/bad cop scenario). If the assistants weren't doing a great job of managing that this year, even if it wasn't intentional or nefarious, it could still lead to a situation that undercut Kim or further spoiled the relationship between Kim and her team. For example, I could imagine over-sympathizing with players' frustrations when they might need some tough love...and I could see that spiraling (not saying this with any knowledge, just trying to put myself in their shoes).

Of course, the buck stops with Kim, and it's on her to manage all of this (and build positive relationships with the players, too).

Kim was saying during preseason and in November that she was worried about this team's 3-point shooting abilities and that they would need to drive more and draw more fouls. She acknowledged very early it would not be like her typical offense where 3s were always the first option. You could be right about her being bull-headed but I thought she was very clear-eyed about this early on (even if the offense still ended up being really ugly most of the time).

Man state run is off their game. Surprised it took this long to start churning out the talking points.

The problem with the excuse that something happened is that the UCLA and Louisville games early in the year were already a clear indication of what was going to happen during the latter part of the season. Then the result of the UCONN game just cemented that the season was very likely to end badly.

If something happened, if the team asked for changes or an assistant attempted to discuss changes - so be it. That activity does not have to lead to locker room drama. It just doesn't. It only does if the atmosphere is one that does not allow dialogue to happen and thus the dialogue is brushed aside rather than discussed out in the open.

The interesting thing is that in yesterday's UCLA and Texas match up, the announcers said that several players (I believe it was for UCLA) had asked the coach to consider some changes. That coach did and it is part of why they are winning. Listening, discussing and open dialogue creates trust and respect.

I have no doubt there were dynamics within the team where different thoughts of what would work better surfaced - maybe CKC had never experienced this before thus her statement about players running through a wall for her and as such had no experience of handling this type of a situation.

But the better the talent on a team, the more alternative ideas that will surface within a team especially when what is being done isn't working. It is the nature of having a certain level of talent within the context of a team.
