If we beat Alabama this year, it would be one of the biggest upsets in UT history. They should be national title favorites. I don't think it will happen. Defense isn't quite there yet.

Maybe Georgia if they fall off more than expected --- but I mean --- they'll just replace their outgoing 5 stars with new 5 stars, so I wouldn't get too carried away on that thesis.

In reality, we have a very good shot in all 10 of the games that don't involve Alabama or Georgia. Though, I would love to see the miracle upset against one of them.

The most money I ever made on a bet was UT at the Barn. IIRC, UT was a 27 point dog. I bet the money line on UT.

UGA has some holes this year. Bama has some d-line and o-line issues. Not like uf, but if the ball bounces the right way, things could go right for the Vols. Glad Heup has us at least in these conversations.

Replacing 5 stars with 5 stars don't always work, hence uga beating Bama. Bama tried to replace those 5 star receivers that got hurt, with 5 stars from the bench, and it didn't help.

I'll believe it when I see it -- and I probably feel the same as most Vol fans about our chances. Having said that, how good our defense may play is still an unknown factor. They may very well exceed any of our expectations. And if that happens, coupled with our high-scoring offense, then who knows?

I have it as almost a coin flip with UGA this year.

They lost a lot. More so than any team Small has coached while there.

Stetson Bennett was definitely underrated and unappreciated, but it was that defense that kept getting UGA the football bck.

If Mitchell is still healthy by then and McDonald is playing well at STAR then that will go a long way in stopping their rushing attack. Oh, and take Burrell out for that whole week.

On offense, our speed backs will cause them some trouble and hopefully Squirrel with Hyatt is a proven thing by then. UGA cannot handle speed from the slot. Tillman gonna Tillman too...

My confidence is the secondary resides in Turnege, Hadden, and Charles and they can shut down whatever UGA has a WR and they all can play good run support.
UGA TEs....that's a different story

If you guys buy into us winning 10 games you're setting yourself up for disappointment. This is only year 2 and we still have major depth issues. Be patient VOLS

Is this one of those "I told you so" posts for after the season, if you turn out to be right?

Not sure what I said that triggered your butthurt post. If what you seen last season from our defense makes you feel good about it, then good for you.
You realize they added a good amount of depth right? That was our main reason to the subpar play towards the end of the season but feel free to claim they ain’t improved

Also lost a lot of players. The incoming players will be freshmen. The fact you are claiming the incoming players will be what makes the difference is actually proof of what I’m saying. Great defenses don’t rely on incoming players for depth, they rely on players they’ve groomed for a few years. I’m not a big fan of Tim banks either. I could be wrong and hope I am but nothing I seen last year gives me much optimism defensively. Offense on the other hand will be unstoppable

Still not convinced GA won’t choke against us. Again. If we hit them in the mouth hard enough and play solid D.

The Gumps? You’re probably right on that one. But any given Saturday…

We have better depth in the secondary with the additions of Wesley Walker, and Andre turrentine, having juwan Mitchell will also help with depth. Tyre west and Joshua Joseph’s will help out in spots. I’m not saying we are gonna have a good defense but I think it will be improved from last year with the depth in the secondary and better pash rush

7-5 of 8-4. Defense won’t be good enough to win 10.

I agree the defense will be mediocre to slightly above, but that will still be an improvement over last year. I'm just not sure we've upgraded enough at pass rush and linebacker.

Nonetheless we expect a high powered offense. It will compensate for some of this.
