They'll put Claiborne and Simon on him if they are smart. Mathieu could have a bad evening if he doesn't get help. The other two are big corners with a lot of speed.

Mathieu is the starting corner but the vast majority of time he is playing a nickel corner position which the often is used as a roamer, or for blitzing either off the corner or slot.

He is a excellent cover guy but lacks size and still needs experience, Florida tried to capitalize on that Saturday and the Honey Badger took what he wanted.

He was playing the cornerback position on Debose 1 on 1.

You basically have Claiborne, Mathieu and Simon at corner, Brooks gets playing time as well.

Simon and Claiborne are the real corners. Mathieu is a rover.

Mathieu is the starting corner, when they go to nickel he goes to the nickel position. Simon is behind Mathieu as you can see from that INT from the Florida game, true, they do let him roam but when he is not roaming he is out in the corner and Simon is out of the game.

Simon will be a top pick by the time he leaves especially at his size of 6'3 but he still a work in progress. I actually think Claiborne has had a couple of bad games.

Standard D, CBs are: Claiborne and Mathieu
Nickel D: Claiborne and Simon on the corners, Mathieu moves to the slot. He was so effective at nickel they leave him there when Simon comes in.

LSU will have DR covered and shadowed all game. Similar to Georgia, he won't be allowed to have much of a chance. Chavis will take his chances with everyone else.

Let me clear this up. Mathieu plays corner when we are in a base 4-3 defense, but he is not our "shut down" corner. I believe that Morris Claiborne will be lined up on Rodgers more than Mathieu.

When we are in a nickel formation, Mathieu plays the nickel spot. Tharold Simon comes in and plays the corner opposite of Claiborne.

Mathieu does a lot of different things though. He blitzes a lot for a corner or nickelback. He plays man coverage against a wr, te, rb all on different plays. He can drop into deep coverage, intermediate or play near the line.

Da'Rick is the ONLY one with NFL written all over him? Not real sure what you're basing that statement on just because he was a 5* doesn't mean he gets a free pass to the NFL. His size and speed are stellar yet I find it hard to believe you have him ahead of Hunter on your NFL prospect list.

i think it goes JH, Bray, DR
JH is much better than DR at this point in their careers. Hunter has the edge in hands, big play potential, and jumping (key in the end zone so you can just throw it up to the reciever). id say route running is about equal, and DR has the advantage in press coverage, but thats not as big a factor in college.

and bottom line, the very first time i saw JH step onto a football field, i saw NFL written all over him. i think DR can make it too and may have more upside if he can develop, but JH was ahead of him until he got hurt

Da'Rick isn't better than Hunter. He's good but Hunter has to have a safety over the top and that still may not work. Hunter has better hands too.

Back to this matchup I like the Simon dude a lot for LSU and I think he'll play a lot Saturday. He's going to be a lock down corner. His size and change of direction are great. The play he made against L.James in the Oregon game was proof of that.

You're kidding yourself if you think Rogers would be higher than Hunter on an NFL board. Hunter is faster, smoother, and catches the ball better. That's not to say Rogers isn't good, but Hunter is/was ahead of him at this point.

Everytime we played a team the coach always talked about #11 was a special player or going to be a special player. The level Hunter was on early this season wasn't equaled by any WR out there. He had to be accounted for at all times.

He wont be on Rogers and Rogers isnt even in J Hunters League. If we lose Rogers instead of Hunter this Offense proboly wouldnt lose a step with a healthy bray. Hunter is a match up problem Darick hasnt done nothing. The first 2 games dont mean anything and Buffalo doesnt mean anything. Rogers has to step it up. LSU jas another Corner they will put on Rogers who has NFL written all over him cant wait to see how Rogers matches up

I believe the LSU's DBs biggest weakness is overconfidence, so if your QB can get time in the pocket you can get some big plays. With that said, if you are throwing every down than LSU will most probably make you pay.

Simon has been very steady, last year and this year. Matter of fact, he filled in for Peterson last year a couple of times and shut people down. Claiborne will normally match up with the #1 WR but to me he has some sub-par games this year. I have only seen the opposing team throw at Mathieu down the field like 2 times all year, which resulted in 2 INTs (one by Mathieu and one by Reid).

TN should try and go with the short passing game, if LSU overplays, you have to try and give the QB time and go deep and hope your guy can make a play. If you go deep out of desperation like Miss State and Florida did, LSU will most probably stuff it. You have to go deep on your terms early, not out of desperation late.

Simon has potential to be a high pick but he will probably have to stay in school for 4 years.

Losing Hunter hurts, it would be interesting to see whether LSU went with Simon on Hunter.
