Rogan

Yeah, it makes you wonder what the hell Fulmer was doing his last 5 years. I mean did he just stop caring? And Kiff is gonna get all the bad pub for this. So Fulmer can sit back and grin and collect checks.

At the risk of being accused of being a CPF lover, let's remember that Rogan's academic problems are apparently a result of second semester issues. We can't blame that on CPF, CLK or anyone else--other than the student/athlete.

Rogan needs to get his body back into the same type of shape it was in as a freshman.

I can't say enough how the previous staff messed him and Gerald Jones up from freshman to sophomore years. Both of them lost their greatest asset (quickness) by adding way too much weight/muscle mass in the wrong places last off-season.

They way they screwed those two up was just plain sad.

If this is true and there are 8 others who could get dismissed can anyone speculate as to who they might be? I'm just trying to see how bad this really can end up being if true because an earlier post said some were starters.

I received some positive news over night which means the news is mixed on this subject. I've been told that only one of the players is in SERIOUS trouble. This is a little different than what I've previously heard. I've been hearing for last 3 weeks of players in academic trouble, IMO, we need to see what transpires in the next 72 hours.

The one player is not a frontline player.

That is good news.

All I know is that ever since Kiffin came on, I've heard nothing but strong things that he's trying to motivate kids to do well in the classroom and keep up their grades. I mean I'm sure it wouldn't matter if General Neyland came back at this point in today's age, you can't reach and motivate everyone. So hopefully it's only one player in severe trouble, and the other kids have some time to get back on track.

For any player who runs through the T against WKU, he should certainly feel like he's earned that honor this year.

Whatever is left of this team will form a very strong nucleus--and I expect to see a team that plays with the heart of the 1985 squad.

They may not win as many, but that's mostly what I want to see from the 2009 Vols.

Guys this is a LIE!!! I know for a fact its bogus. I personally saw him getting advised on monday. He was with CJ flemming and Art Evans. If he was kicked out he would of known alot sooner then now. Grades go in quicker then 4 weeks after Spring term ends. Also you can't be advised if your no longer a student. I have had friends kicked from Ut and I was once on probation. If you get kicked you dont go to advising to appeal. You have to send a letter of appeal and then wait on a decision.

Sorry, but you are wrong. I know somebody who works in the advising office and he was dismissed from school along with Brent Vinson. Shouldn't be a big deal, as regular students have to sit out an entire semester but athletes can just sit out the summer. Apparently it happens all the time.

Good news LWS. Brent was on 104.5 the zone this morning and didnt mention any of this. They asked him about Vinson though. He said he saw him rehabbing and said that he thinks we will have Vinson this fall. But also said that he is in the doghouse big time and has a ton of work to do to get back in good graces. From what he has shown over time, I doubt he contributes for us. That is a shame too, that kis is a helluva player.

Seems like he would realize he's a "helluva player," and that that means he could have a helluva future IF he gets his s@#$ together.

It obviously should be noted that Kiffin has had control of the team the entire spring semester. Any player that didn't make the appropriate grades during the spring are all Kiffin, not Fulmer....Also, how many starters have been kicked off? I can think of Morley. Coleman and Creer just left b/c they didn't think they fit into kiffin's offense like they did Fulmer's.... Hell, you hire me to coach a 5-7 team and I'll kick off a bunch of 2nd and 3rd stringers in order to prove a point... I highly doubt that none of our starters have been caught with drugs and drinking underage....

Yeah he has had control but the thing is that for some of these guys it is not the first time for issues with grades. So maybe it is on Fulmer for bringing in guys that cant do their job and Kiffin is having to weed out the bad ones.
And Coleman and Creer were getting passed up on this team that is why they left.
Morley got kicked off for not making his grades, which he is a dumb a$$ because he did all that work to leave Knoxville and come back with this brand new attitude and appreciate all that he has again and he pissed it away with a baby on the way....HIS FAULT!!

And you said it..."If they hired me to coach a 5-7 team" Fulmer got us there buddy, with a bunch of 2nd and 3rd stringers because he quit recruiting like he used too.
Kiffin has broughtin some great talent in this recruiting class and Tennessee is all over the news and recruits are going crazy about Knoxville now....
This was a great transition for coaches...We let go a bunch of old school guys and brought in some young (except Monte) talent and new ideas. Might I add an unbelievable recruiting staff. In my opionion we have a lot better coaching staff now then we did.

And I hate to tell you but most of the players who have quit did not quit because of Fulmer they left because this new staff is going to make them work hard and no more of this (I'm your best friend Fulmer approach). Fulmer was a softy and let players get away with too much. I love this new staff and we will be better.
Here is too looking to the future instead of living in the past!:toast:

You don't get kicked out of school for one semester of bad grades.

It's a problem that was brewing and Fulmer being let go kicked it off.

I don't agree with this at all. Most of the trouble-makers and kids with grade issues more than likely would never have been recruited to Tennessee by Kiffin.

Kiffin is going to have to deal with these types of players for at least the next 3-4 years because this is what Fulmer left behind for him to work with. Plus many of them were used to getting into some kind of trouble and simply stepping back onto the field once the season rolled around.

He's done a remarkable job of kicking the dirty laundry out of the program.

Your point may be valid, but what does that have to do with Rogan's grades?

I'm not saying this is a lie yet but I find it funny that this is only posted here. don't see an article or anything anywhere except here.

Is there a real article link anywhere?

Not funny at all. The posters here are frequently ahead of the "news".

When are the academic people going to learn that these guy are here for one purpose and that is to win football games. We could give a rats ass about their education. Hell, if they don't go pro they're probably going to be pumping gas somewhere anyway.

Only USCjr grads end up pumping gas after graduating.

It's the 'college' part of college football.
