Rogan officially gone...

Rogan is a bigger loss than we think. Probably the surest open field tackler in the 2009 secondary, including Berry.

Personally, I don't think it's THAT bad of a move. Look at what happened to Arian Foster, he was a 1st, 2nd rounder going into his senior year and decided to stay and the new coach (Clawson) hurt his draft status extraordinarily.

Yeah, Clawson was the reason the line sucked, and why he fumbled the ball away.Come on man you sound like you've never played a single down.

Coaching change . . . rookie salary cap next year . . . threat of no NFL in 2011. I can't say that I blame him or any other Junior for declaring this year.

Rogan will get very little garunteed money. Not going 1st or 2nd round.

There's a good chance he would have flunked out had he stayed. It's a good decision for both Rogan and UT. Plus, he has a kid, so the sooner he starts making money, the better for him.

At first I was thinking it was a terrible move and then I read your post. Makes a lot more since now that I know his situation.

Here is what the ESPN is reporting about the crash:

Kiffin walked home from the scene of the wreck, a high-ranking Tennessee source told ESPN's Dwayne Bray.

Kiffin left Tennessee after only 14 months on the job to become coach at USC. An atmosphere of animosity in Knoxville has led to Internet and blog chatter about his actions during his time working for Tennessee.

Hamilton interviewed Tennessee assistant football coaches to corroborate Kiffin's whereabouts that night, and one assistant confirmed having seen the coach in the athletic offices at approximately midnight. The accident occurred in the early morning hours. Tennessee officials said the time between Kiffin's last being seen in the offices and the crash was unaccounted for. The university did not pay for the repairs to the damaged car, according to the source.

Correct me if I am wrong but, if I left the scene of a crash, wouldn't I be in jail?????

whoa when did he declare

though i bet in all the confusion of kiffin leaving and the coaching search he went ahead and felt it best to go ahead and leave...no one wants 3 coaches in 3 years

blow to our secondary though

threat of no NFL? what do you mean?

It's highly likely that the NFL's Collective Bargaining Agreement won't be extended. It runs out this offseason. The CBA is the agreement between the Player's Union and the Owners on how revenue is split between players and teams, rules and terms of spending for teams, and it even affects the Draft and when players become Unrestricted Free Agents. It's in everybody's best interest to get this thing extended, but at this point, greed is succeeding and both sides are demanding different things - they also refuse to continue with the terms from the previous CBA.

So now, there's going to be no Salary Cap, players who were going to become UFA's who haven't been in the NFL longer than 6 seasons will become Restricted Free Agents, and after the 2010 Draft, a rookie salary slotting system will be put in place similar to the NBA's. The players won't like that, and it's very possibly that they'll go on strike and have a work stoppage.

Was he invited to a combine? Anybody know his prediction coming out?

He'll definitely have Tennessee's Pro Day to work out for NFL teams and scouts, and he'll be able to be privately worked out by teams too. As for the Scouting Combine, I doubt he gets an invite with how big this class will be (Everyone with a decent grade is bolting because of the future slotting system and possible work stoppage). Rico McCoy didn't even get an invite to the Combine, I don't believe.

As for his projection, it's hard to say. I'm a huge Rogan fan, and have been for a long time. So my projection is better than most. I see Rogan as an excellent NB in the NFL - he's perfect for that role being a CB/FS in college and being able to support the run or cover receivers. He's also able to return punts and kicks, and while he's not Javier Arenas, having an experienced returner is always valuable. This is how most people will see him - a NB/RS who can aslo play on special teams. That probably gives him a 5th RD grade.

Personally, I think he's got upside. I think he can develop into a solid #2 CB, and even provide FS depth if needed. Plus, his special teams contributions are great. He's also got experience in a pro defense (Tampa 2), and handled the #1 CB duties on an SEC DEF very well. I'd like the Titans to invest one of their 4th RD picks (I'm assuming they'll have a 4th RD compensatory pick) on him.

So I've got him as a 4th RD'er, and most others would probably have him as a 5th RD'er or later.

Thanks Titanhope. With the Titans needing a linebacker do they take a shot with him. I believe they only have one first round pick and no second, so if he does go in the third the Titans could make a move on him. Just thinking out loud.

Rogan was very unhappy and did not enjoy honoring the "student" part of "student-athlete," so it's no surprise he has decided to declare. He has a young daughter to take care of, if I am not mistaken, and believed it to be in his best interest to get his money now. He has the measurables and could probably make himself a top 4 round pick with a good workout. I thank him for his time here, good luck young man.

Cool Dool
